Let's hope we don't end up worse than 2001.

I think we tied with Milwaukee on opening day because of rain.

Right you are. From retro sheet:

Date # Opponent Result
4- 3-2000 BOX+PBP Vs MIL N T 3- 3
I remember waiting out the rain delay on Opening Day. My then girlfriend (now wife) and I sat in the outfield getting soaked until after 6 pm.

That was the first game of the triumphant return of Ken Griffey Jr. Man that was an exciting time. I remember my 8th grade teacher allowed us to watch it on the television that day because of the big occasion.

He's the reason we didn't leave after 4 hours of rain. Well, him and the endless parade of drunks sliding across the tarp. I remember one of them actually crawled inside the "tarp tube" trying to hide from the police.

I went to high school with that guy.

It was a very proud moment for Elder High School.

ah....2002 we were still 10 games over .500 in June I believe, then we went on the inter-league west coast swing to play the Mariners and Angels....

the rest is history..

The ol' quarter pole hasn't been kind to the Redlegs, huh?

Does this suggest anything that's *not* happening during spring training?
