What about a trading Junior to the Indians for Jeremy Sowers?

Sowers looks to be the odd man out and is struggling in Cleveland...Junior is doing really well, may waive his no trade to go to a winner...Reds keep a big chunk of his salary.

I thought they were one of the organizations interested in getting a bigger bat in their lineup and Sowers is suffering and rumored to be on the outs with the organization...if he is on the outs with the organization why wouldn't it make sense to improve a team to make a run now?

If there were any way to get it done, the pitcher I would target in Cleveland is Adam Miller. And would offer them Dunn to get at him.

Jr for Sowers would represent the antithesis of their organizational philosophy... I would be stunned if the Indians did that.

I'd do it, but it'd be a coup for the Reds. Griffey doesn't really fit into their organizational model. Too old, but most important, too expensive and unreliable because of his tendency to find himself on the DL.

It would have been nice had the Reds simply signed Sowers when they drafted him...

I don't really think Sowers helps all that much...his K rate has spiraled downward as he has gone up in level:

Now, it's early in the year, but it seems evident to me that he would never be more valuable to the Reds as a #4 starter making the minimum...which is valuable, but not valuable enough to trade a guy who--whether he can continue to be counted on or not--is much too important a run producer to give up. For me, the return has to be higher. Just too much dependence on batted balls turning into outs versus missing bats.

He's a lefthanded Kirk Saarloos? Thats interesting. On the other hand, he does have some pretty stiff AL comp to go against, in the NL that'll limit the level of talent he has to face.. but whats it matter? I'd target other people before Sowers, that I could get for cheaper.
