But they're fast. If we've learned anything in the past few days it's that speed wins ballgames.............. :explode:

I can see it now. We see your "Lopez/Guzman" and raise you a "Freel/Gonzalez". Freel, Gonzalez, and Conine are going to get more at bats than Adam Dunn. That makes complete sense... I guess it means Castro and Hopper aren't starting at least.

Gonzalez second - no wonder Gonzalez chose to come to the Reds. On what other team would he get to bat 5th sometimes and 2nd sometimes.

BRM

OBP vs LHP

Freel - .197
Gonzalez - .288
Junior - .403
Phillips - .369
Conine - .357
Dunn - .313
Encarnacion - .333
Ross - .238

That's a lot of outs at the top.

WOW... just got home from work and I see that EE is back up!!! I guess this is old news, but not for me... Decent line-up, except I'd move Gonzo lower and Dunn higher in the order... I'll take it though.

Not on EE's first night back, I wouldn't I approve  of Narron's coddling of EE down in the order for the first game back. Now, as for Gonzo at 2? Does he hit Chico pretty well?

My choice:

Freel
Phillips
Griffey
Conine
Dunn
Gonzo
EE
Ross

Just for tonight, then EE can move back up.

Another Lenny Harris sighting....

Remeber that game he pitched?

Harris actually pitched once for the Reds, on June 2, 1998. The Cincinnati Post reported, "Harris, who hadn't pitched since May 1983, when he led Jackson High School in Miami to a 5-3 victory over Miami Springs, proved to be effective when working on 14 years of rest. The first Cincinnati position player to appear on the mound since Dave Concepcion at Dodger Stadium on June 3, 1988, struck out Brent Mayne on three pitches (strike three was a nasty backdoor slider) before getting Stan Javier and Bill Mueller to fly out." [1] Coincidentally, Mayne would make a relief appearance for the Colorado Rockies two years later.

Yea, I hope EE is watching closely...that guy is fundamentally sound and really owns the hot corner. Best I've seen since a young Rolen.

The thing is, I think EE is just as quick, he just doesn't have sound footwork. You cannot make the throw to first if you don't set your feet. Zimmerman is running a clinic out there.

On a sidenote, Ryan Zimmerman is one heck of a defensive third baseman. I see a sort of mini-Scott Rolen watching that guy play defense.

Certainly he's not a pitcher who goes deep in games at this point -- really, the use of this guy as a late innings reliever never made sense to me. He hasn't gone more than an inning or two for weeks. No surprise that he couldn't go deep into the game.

I think Saarloos makes a lot of sense as a starter at GABP. Reds' rotation is still very fly ball oriented, including the two aces.
