Angels only have one LH reliever (Darren Oliver). Only one LH on their whole pitching staff for that matter.

Junior has had almost no success against Darren Oliver. 2-20 for his career. 1 of those 2 hits was a homer though.

I believe Oliver may have thrown multiple innings Sunday.

You guys make Escobar sound like Cy Young. He is having a great year but since he has been a starter with ANA he is 32-31 (4 years) and at age 31 I would think he would move more towards .500 then to claiming any trophies at year end.

This board is getting mighty complacent with Narron's lineups.

Hatteberg leading off?
Switch him with Hamilton and it gets a lot better.

And if it comes to nitpicking...how about swapping Ross with Gonzo. I prefer someone in the 8th spot who can actually score from 2nd on a single.

Otherwise my hope that Narron was over his lefty-splitting obsession was spoiled with the fact that the Angels have to lefties to use.

MrCinatit
06-12-2007, 06:39 PM
Yeah, Hatt leading off is not the route I would take either. The lineup is better - but still not perfect.
But, don't get used to it - I am sure this is the only time we will see it this year

PuffyPig
06-12-2007, 06:42 PM
Escobar has pitched very well this year. His Dips is low (3.29) based mainly on an unreal low HR rate (much lower than his career). Now, his FB rate is the same as always, so I would suggest he's been pretty lucky in not giving up more HR's.

I think a game in Great American Ballpark is just the thing to get that HR/FB rate back to normal.

Hatteberg is probably the best lead off hitter ont he team, IMO. He'll get on base more tham Hamilton or Freel, or Phillips, the only other potetial options.

wow can we be any worse at playing baseball?

0 out man on 2nd and 3rd, your two best hitters up and u get a K and a pop out to third

Atleast EE is good with runners in scoring positionsometimes you have to tip your hat to the pitcher(with an assist to the ump for the 1-0 on Dunn and the 2-0 on EE). There was not a real hittable pitch in the sequence.

It might have something to do with the somewhat plump gentleman on the mound.

You would think out of your top 3 run producers you could produce even a sacrifice fly to center...

Escobar is not that great... Either Griffey or Dunn HAVE to produce right there

I disagree... a good hitter can react to anything. The great adjust to the pitch coming at them and hit the ball. Inside you pull it, outside you take it to the other field etc...

Thats a hall of famer and potential HoF (very argueably) out there... you have to produce!

I still disagree with you. I pitched myself and I still give the credit to the hitter to atleast put the ball into the outfield no matter what the pitcher throws... It is not unreasonable to expect a hall of famer and and all star to react to the pitch coming at them and atleast put it in the outfield...

I am not going to play the "I played the game card"

use tonight as an example
- inning where the Reds scored three runs
Jr single - ball in the middle of the plate
Dunn single - ball in the middle and up
Hamilton single - ball in the middle and up
Kotchman HR - ball in the middle and up
Matthews HR - ball in the middle and down
Kendrick double - ball in the middle

There is a common theme above

The large majority of hits come on mistakes. Only occassionally is a pitchers pitch hit for a base knock. Only one tonight, a bloop single by Kotchman
