This is the same lineup (excluding Moeller giving Ross a rest yesterday) that we saw during the entire Angels series, and honestly, it's one of the best lineups I've seen from Narron all season.

Part of me thinks maybe Narron is finally getting it temporarily, though another part of me thinks that Krivsky could have sent down a suggestion to slot Griffey and Dunn in the middle of the order in an attempt to highlight their value for the trading deadline market.

I think Naron's under electroshock therapy where if he puts a radically different lineup out there, he gets shocked.

I'll say the Rangers' offense drubs Reds' pitching this series.

The Rangers might be able to, but so should the Reds:
Vicente Padilla, RHP (2-8, 6.28) - 1.69 whip
Jamey Wright, RHP (0-0, 16.87) - coming off the DL to make his second start of the season.
Kevin Millwood, RHP (2-6, 7.82) - 1.94 whip

I hope the results for this series are the same as the last time the Texas Rangers visited GABP... June 15-17, 2004. SWEEP!

First two games are last at-bat victories:
(1) Larkin bases loaded single with 1 out in the 11th inning. 5-4 REDS win.
(2) Freel bases loaded double with 1 out in the 8th inning breaks a 3-3 tie. 7-4 REDS win.

The winning pitchers in that series? Todd Jones, Phil Norton & Todd Van Poppel. The REDS end the series 8 games over .500 (37-29) and only 2 games back of St. Louis for 1st place. Danny Graves earns his 27th save in game 3. Tim Hummell (thug) goes yard in game 2.

No kidding. Everywhere you turn, you're reminded of what an awful job Krivsky's done to assemble a MLB bullpen.

Texas is the worst team in baseball right now (hold the comments!)... by winning percentage. Is it possible for the REDS to sweep them?

Been 44 straight series' since the REDS last had a series sweep. The last sweep? Right after last year's All-Star break when the REDS swept the Colorado Rockies in a 4-game series at home. A lot of us remember that time period b/c THE TRADE happened the day of the 1st game in that series.

BTW... the REDS have been swept 3 times since they pulled a sweep on the Rockies on July 13-16, 2006.

The REDS broom... can someone find it, please?!? :help:

We may not like it, but with all the trade talk swirling, the team's record speaking for itself, the long summer ahead, I'm looking for the squad to start phoning it in pretty regularly. They're in more than a talent-funk right now; they are playing like whipped dogs out there.

They are .500 over their last 16 games.

As bad as they have been this season, that's probably their best stretch since the early season.

Right, but most of that playing was done before all the trade talk kicked into high gear. People know this team is going to be dismantled, they know there's nothing really to play for this season. Sure, some individual players will want to pad their stats, but they're humans and apathy's almost impossible to beat back for many I'm sure.

What's funny is that I thought the Reds would be able to keep the Angels' offense in check. I didn't say it at the time, but I wasn't all that worried about their offense. Shows what you can predict in a short series.

Hopefully this puts to rest the "Matt Belisle is a good pitcher" line. He can haul in innings for a rebuilding team that is looking to pare costs, he can be a better long man in the bullpen, but he isn't a good middle reliever nor a good starting pitcher.

Brutally bad he can be at times. Good teams don't have Matt Belisle's in the rotation for any length of time. Painfull.

It's a shame that he has been so underappreciated by the city of Cincinnati. Folks won't realize how good he was until he is gone.
