Good lineup. I'm not surprised that Griffey is the DH on getaway day--when you pair that up with tomorrow's travel day, it's like giving him two days off.

Matt700wlw

Actually the real lineup is

Hopper LF

Conine RF

I would have considered starting Conine in RF over Hopper, but I guess Jerry (and probably Hamilton) didn't want both Dunn and Conine in the OF at the same time! :p:

It barely went out in left-center. Bloomquist just missed it, but it looked like he caught it. Griffey stopped for a few seconds before realizing it was, in fact, a home run.

I remember him usually being between 88 and 92, so upper 80s isn't bad.

It's when his fastball was sitting at 85 and 86 last start that warning bells should have been going off for everyone associated with the Reds...

I was perplexed when I heard Marty talking about it afterwards. I was cleaning and had just gone outside to dump some dirty water and came in, hearing the crowd cheering, but Marty's voice excited. Looked safe to me as well. The ump appeared to be screened.

However, it didn't look like the runner protested too much. Usually when its a really bad call, the guy stealing the base jumps up like somebody just stole his prom date.

NL leader in HRs? Fielder with 26.

Next up, in either league? Jr. with 21 now.

To call this a resurgence is an understatement. To call it unforeseen is a vast understatement.

I have this cheesy little dream where this year, when Bonds inevitably breaks the all-time HR record, Ken Griffey Jr. quietly manages to hit his 62nd home run of the season sometime in September, making him the unofficial Home Run king in baseball.

That pitch is unhittable. Six inches above the ground and six inches outside is unhittable. A hitter shouldn't have to swing at that pitch. The plate is there for a reason. I so hope MLB starts using Questec full-time, I'm tired of these horrible balls and strikes calls. Hitters over 6'3" or 6'4" are constantly screwed night in and night out.

No walk off possible with the M's having another at bat.

I saw a pitch that was right at the knees.

But that's beyond the point. The umpire is calling the pitch a strike. Don't give me "He can't hit that pitch." That tells me it was a great pitch. Close enough to be called a strike, and unhittable...great pitch.

Swing the bat. You just may get a hit. Not to mention he whiffed on a hittable third strike.

This one is on the offense. Arroyo did ok.

Reds just too dependent on home run, have too much trouble in games like this, particularly in bigger ballparks.
