I'm interested to see what they can do up in cinci... some have already proven they can handle it.

What prospects are we going to see besides Votto and possibly Gardener?

Votto and Bailey are the only two promising prospects we are likely to see this year.
Bruce and Cueto late next year maybe.
Maybe you can add in whomever we receive for Griffey, Dunn, or Hatteberg if they are traded. :)

Doesn't Dumatrait have to make the dance at some point?
How about Keppinger? All he's doing is leading the IL in batting average. Wouldn't he look good in Castro's spot?

You are correct about Dumatrait coming up this year, but he is not considered a real prospect. His upside is as a #5 starter.
Keppinger is not a prospect either. He is 27 years old. He has no power or speed. He is a slap-hitting career minor leaguer with no upside. He has already been discarded by the Pirates, Mets, Royals and I think the Marlins. The best he will ever be is an emergency fill-in for an injured benchwarmer. I agree that he is a better option than Juan Castro.
Votto, Bailey and Bruce are the cream of the Reds' crop. These are the only ones that are very promising prospects with star potential. These are the guys we want to see.
The Reds have a few others (Cueto, Thompson, Valaika, Stubbs, etc.) that could have careers in the majors, but those guys have not exhibited any signs of being above average major leaguers. Hopefully they will develop into solid contributors.

I agree with most of what you say, but Cueto could very well turn out to be a star himself. He's got three above average pitches, and the other day he was hitting upper 90s on the gun. Not to mention he has a no-hitter to his credit already, and his first 2 starts for AA Chattanooga have been dominant in every way possible.

Didn't he strike out, like, 13 the other day?

Yessir, in 7 IP. To go along with 0 BB, 5 hits, and 0 runs. Like I said, dominant. :beerme:

Well hopefully Cueto will become a star too. We all know the Reds could use a stud pitcher. I think his upside is a #3 starter.
He wasn't a serious prospect before last year. Last year he pitched very well in the low minors. But this year he has pitched very well so far at three levels, which is very encouraging. Pitching well in low-A is nice, but pitching well at AA is much more difficult and so far he is excelling. He is quite small for a pitcher, which makes him an injury risk.

Why do you say that?
I think he's a year away. He'll be up around this time next year.

From all I have seen , Dumatrait may be a quality starting pitcher well capable of taking Lohse's spot. He is capable of pitching out of the back of the Reds rotation. He has done quite well in AAA lately. Lohse and Belisle's spot are up for grabs unless they both improve. Cueto and the others you mentioned all have the capability to be above-average major leaguers; they just need to fulfill their potential. I don't know a lot about Keppinger, however , leading any League in hitting is a impressive feat. He would be a definite upgrade over Castro.
