Why no Dunn in derby?

I just don't get it. How come Dunn doesn't get invited to the HR derby? I believe he would have a real shot at winning. Does he get asked and declines or what? Never hear anything about him.

You are correct though I would like to see some changes in this area.
Maybe invite some for just the HR aspect,in other words they would be in the HR part only.
Sort of similar to the NFL with their skills competiton.

:( I don't believe that Hee Seop Choi was an All Star a couple of years back. Having said that, all Adam Dunn has to do is do what all other 40+ HR guys do....make the All Star team....and he can participate.

I think the HRD participants should be chosen independent of the overall All-Stars, and should not be considered "All-Stars" if they contribute w/o having been chosen as actual "All-Stars"...

For instance, I'd LOVE to see Wily Mo in the HRD, not to mention AD.

The reason Choi was in the HR Derby in 2005 is MLB did that thing where players represented their home countries.

Wikipedia isnt research. Its the 1st thing you get when you type in HR Derby. I could edit that very page right now and write whatever I wanted.

I may be wrong, but I am not accepting Wikipedia's word for it either. I have looked and cannot find the official rules of the AS game or HR Derby.

I didn't find the official rules anywhere (they appear to be constantly changing) but I found a list of every HRD contestant ever and of every all-star ever here...

I didn't have time to go through and compare every single HRD contestant to see if they were also an all-star that year, but I did check on MasonBuzz's claim about Palmeiro in 2004 and he's correct.
