Great moment in the pregame with Willie Mays with Junior and Jeter.

In all fairness, I'd probably be nervous enough that I couldn't feel my arms. So I might not be much better.

The Mays interview was a lot of fun - especially when he basically said Junior is one of the closest things to himself on the playing field right now.

Manny yelled "reserve!" after each Red Sox' player was announced.

I know, I really liked when he said that. Based on what I've seen from video, I always thought they were pretty similar. And I think it's cool symmetry that Willie Mays was my dad's favorite player, and Junior is mine.

Does Ichiro Suzuki's uniform actually say ICHIRO on the back?

Jose Reyes is just one of the greatest things about baseball right now as far as I'm concerned.

Does Ichiro Suzuki's uniform actually say ICHIRO on the back?

I did not see, but most likely, it does. I believe he is more known now as Ichiro than he is Ichiro Suzuki - at least in the states.
There are many places where I no longer see his last name at all.

Has he EVER had Suzuki on the back?

People can dog baseball all they want, say that the NFL or Nascar or whatever has passed them by, but NO SPORT honors its legends better than baseball.

This is true.
In my opinion, no other sports fan appreciates its past and the players who helped make the game what it has become more than baseball.

Good thing this is an exhibition. Some Yankee coach would get himself fired for sending A-Rod and getting him thrown out by 30 feet.

I'm burning a bit from the bonds interview; "We ballplayers need to stay together" and "it used to be a boys club, and I think we need to get back to that". I think I've got the quotes right..
In other words... don't tell.

on the plus side, Griffey is headded toward MVP!

He also made the comment..."it's about us"...and then quickly threw in..."...and the fans".

I've been in and out of the room but have heard no kudos regarding Griffey's throw, only what a great put-out by Martin!

Please tell me I'm wrong and some recognition of Griffey's throw was also mentioned...

First inside the park HR in All Star history.

That took a really bad hop off the wall. Griffey actually played it correctly, but it still bounced too far away.

To be fair, it wasn't really a great throw, it just looked better because whoever was coaching 3rd base just replaced Ron Oester as worst third base coach ever.

All Japanese people have one surname and one given name with no middle name, except for the Japanese imperial family, whose members bear no surname. The given name in Japanese is called the "name" (名前 namae) or "lower name" (下の名前 ****a no namae). The surname is called myōji (苗字 or 名字), uji (氏) or sei (姓). In Japanese, the family name precedes the given name.

Gotta love wiki.

But the rest of the Japanese players don't do that. Their surname (family name) is on their jerseys, American-style.

I think it's specific to him. My Seattlite friend has confirmed that his uniform does always say Ichiro and always has.

Yes, it does (and has). I remember reading an article about it 3 or 4 years ago. Sorry, but I have no idea what the periodical was. If I remember correctly, it's simply that that's the way he wanted it.

Maybe LaRussa shouldn't manage the Reds next season after the Rowand over Pujols move.

Castro wasn't available, I guess...
