I guess Pete has figured out that Ross isn't going to hit.

Cabrera has an OPS of over 1.300 vs. LHP this season.

It's been raining very hard. Could be a delay.

How many hits do y'all think Livingston'll get today? I think it'll be a rough day for him, so I'll say he'll go two-for-three with a double.

Eric_Davis
07-21-2007, 07:28 PM
Kim has walked 43 batters in the 64.1 innings hes pitched this season.

Maybe Dunn was thinking if he didn't take the bat off his shoulders he might get on base.

Anyone else think the lack of an advance scout might be why theyre having so much trouble with Kim? :)

Anyone else think the lack of an advance scout might be why theyre having so much trouble with Kim? :)

It might have something to do with all the extra-base hits the Marlins are getting, too. Players' tendencies change from week to week...why else would they have advance scouts in the first play if it wasn't for part of that reason?

SteelSD
07-21-2007, 07:50 PM
Encarnacion just threw out Miggy at the tail end of a "dive/throw from knees" highlight reel effort. Ridiculous.

Eric_Davis
07-21-2007, 07:50 PM
Freel's 10-pitch at-bat last time up is the best the REDS have done against Kim so far through 3 pefect innings. Freel's picked up his offense lately, so look for him to start a good inning for the REDS here.

Eric_Davis
07-21-2007, 07:52 PM
3 pitches is better than 1-pitch outs, I guess.

Let's get on base and make Kim pitch from the stretch.

flyer85
07-21-2007, 07:52 PM
Kim has walked 43 batters in the 64.1 innings hes pitched this season.... but seems to have his command tonight . He is tough when he has command because his stuff is nasty.

Eric_Davis
07-21-2007, 07:56 PM
Nice job, Junior.

Seeing him in a REDS' uniform still seems surreal. He's such a pleasure to watch play the game. That assist the other night was awesome.

I'm sure like many pitchers, that he's just much less effective when he has to pitch from the stretch. We just have to get more runners to first base against him. Though I was being facetious with Dunn, Dunn had three chances to where he almost accomplished this and it was a nice effort by Dunn to get on base.

Eric_Davis
07-21-2007, 08:04 PM
Kim's thrown 54 pitches and 36 for strikes.
Livingston's thrown 57 pitches and 36 for strikes.

0-0 through Four.

Let's have some good at-bats, guys this inning.

Eric_Davis
07-21-2007, 08:12 PM
Lopez, have some patience. You're new to the Majors. 2 pitches 2 outs is not a way to learn the pitchers.

MrCinatit
07-21-2007, 08:16 PM
Kim is one of those guys I have secretly rooted for, for a long time. It seemed like he had pretty good stuff at one time, but wow - he got brutalized by the Yankees in '01.

Eric_Davis
07-21-2007, 08:16 PM
Nice recovery by Kim.

But, we got on the board and made Kim throw 18 pitches that inning.

I remember a couple of guys a few years ago stating that they wanted him to be a RED, don't know if that was you.

I remember a couple of guys a few years ago stating that they wanted him to be a RED, don't know if that was you.

No - while I am sort of rooting for him, I would rather root for him with another team. His numbers certainly indicate his best days were long ago. His 1.60 WHIP this year kind of backs that up.

MrCinatit
07-21-2007, 08:24 PM
Hanley Ramirez, on the other hand - I would like to see him in a Reds uniform in a heartbeat.

Eric_Davis
07-21-2007, 08:26 PM
Livingston has never faced a tougher situation than right now with Cabrera with the go-ahead run on 3rd and Cabrera hitting as well as he is.

Eric_Davis
07-21-2007, 08:30 PM
Giving up only 1 run while facing Ramirez, Uggla and Cabrera for the third time today was highly successful in my opinion.

Reds Fanatic

Hatteberg leads off with an infield single.

Reds Fanatic
07-21-2007, 08:33 PM
Junior singles to left but is easily thrown out at 2nd. Hatteberg is at 3rd.

flyer85
07-21-2007, 08:34 PM
Griffey ought to pulled after that effort, at least using the past as a standard. That was worse than what EE did.

Eric_Davis
07-21-2007, 08:35 PM
Did Junior stand there and watch the hit or something? Why'd he get thrown out so easily?

CTA513

Another failed attempt to get a runner home from third with less than 2 outs.

Reds Fanatic

Intentional walk to Dunn. 1st and 3rd with 2 outs.

flyer85
07-21-2007, 08:37 PM
Did Junior stand there and watch the hit or something? Why'd he get thrown out so easily?because he walked to first then tried to go to second, he compounded a lack of effort with stupidity. He should have accepted his single.

Reds Fanatic
07-21-2007, 08:38 PM
Valentin grounds out to 2nd to end the inning. Big blown scoring chance there. 1-1 mid 6th.

Eric_Davis
07-21-2007, 08:39 PM
Base-running blunder, Whiff, and soft-grounder to second strands the runner at 3rd with nobody out.

flyer85
07-21-2007, 08:41 PM
Welsh, you're dense, the reason Kim wanted to pitch to Javy was because he knew he had the opportunity to get him out without throwing strikes. Kim threw three balls to Javy to get him out.

Reds Fanatic
07-21-2007, 08:41 PM
Willingham strikes out. 5 Ks for Livingston.

flyer85
07-21-2007, 08:43 PM
That inning showed why one reason why the Reds are bad, dumb play combined with hitters getting themselves out.

Eric_Davis
07-21-2007, 08:44 PM
because he walked to first then tried to go to second, he compounded a lack of effort with stupidity. He should have accepted his single.

That's Freel-like....two errors on the same play.

I don't think Livingston is good enough to keep these Marlins from scoring these next two innings. We need some bonehead plays on their part.

Ross and Linden ground out. 1-2-3 inning for Livingston. 1-1 after 6.

Kim 92 pitches
Livingston 86 pitches

flyer85
07-21-2007, 08:46 PM
Amen. I'd sit him for a week. That was insulting to me as a fan.honestly I was more bothered by the end of the play where he quit running before he reached 2nd and just walked into the tag. If you didn't bust it at the beginning of the play you can at least hustle at the end.

If Dunn or EE had done it the board would go berserk(and Marty).

Eric_Davis
07-21-2007, 08:47 PM
Do you pinch-hit for Livingston if there are 2 outs and a runner on?

Livingston is at 85 pitches. This should be Kim's last inning as he's coming up 3rd in the bottom of the inning and he's at 92 pitches going into the inning.

Eric_Davis
07-21-2007, 08:48 PM
Nevermind, I thought Livingston was the 4th batter up this inning, not the 3rd.

Eric_Davis
07-21-2007, 08:49 PM
I'd let Livingston hit with 2 outs and nobody on.

Reds Fanatic
07-21-2007, 08:49 PM
Livingston singles to center with 2 outs. His 5th hit.

Reds Fanatic

Freel pops out to short to end the inning. 1-1 mid 7th.

Lohse told Livingston that he'd never see a fastball again after last week.

Wood homers. 2-1 Marlins.

Reds Fanatic

Reds Fanatic
07-21-2007, 09:10 PM

Eric_Davis
07-21-2007, 09:10 PM
Phillips was glad to see someone other than Kim out there.

Single up the middle.

Reds Fanatic
07-21-2007, 09:14 PM
Dunn strikes out swinging. 3-1 Marlins mid 8th.

Reds Fanatic

I have said it many times when a pitcher is sucking: Leave him in there and let him get the crap beaten out of him. Let him know he sucks. Do not waste bullpen arms on this game.

Todd Coffey has to be having one of the worst years a pitcher could have. If people told you going into this year Coffey would have this type of season, you would have been laughed at.

KittyDuran
07-21-2007, 09:57 PM
IIRC wasn't it Coffey last year or two years ago "tipping" his pitches? Though I don't remember if it was actually him or if they ever figured it out...

Didn't get to hear the game (was at a roller-derby match of all things) but heard the Brenneman report detailing what happened. Yeech. "carnage" was the adjective used in reference to the 8th inning. Shame. Sounds like Bobby L pitched a decent game only to have it all go poof.

Three pitcher and not one of them can buy an out? Stunning.

The eighth inning again. :(

At least Livingston pitched decently, though I would have pulledhim after six innings. (I would have let him hit fior himself, though.)
