I have noticed that so far even though its a small sample size is that Mike Gosling is tough on Lefties. Have we found ourselves a Lefty specialist who is actually good at getting lefties out?

Hopefully Mac keeps throwing him out there against lefties.

he looked very impressive in the atlanta extra inning game. coutlangus also could do well in this position if you knew he was going to come out throwing strikes. whenever someone in this bullpen throws one shutout inning you count your blessings. i'm hoping that they add some legitimate relief help at the deadline or in the offseason.

Ive posted before that I liked Gosling. He made Ryan Howard look foolish a couple of times, and I think he fanned Utley in the same game. He would be a nice loogy, and he could serve as a long-man in a tight spot since he was a starter most of his career. But will they have a spot for him on the roster with all those contracts and lefties?

Perhaps, we need as many CHEAP YOUNG - and GOOD - bullpen arms as we can muster.

My proposed 2008 lineup:

For Sure:
Coffey, R (after baseball psych therapy) - $925K
Majewski, R - $500K (?)
Bray, L - $500K (?)
Burton, R - $400K
Coutlangus, L - $400K
Gosling, L - $400K

Coffey will undoubtabley get another shot next year with that salary. Bray/Maj should be back yet this year and we can only HOPE they solidify a spot in the bullpen. Burton/Coutlangus/Gosling are the only guys that have had ANY consistencty out there and have ERA's under 5 (actually 4.5 in this case)

Like to Have:
Weathers, R - $2.5M
Easy Eddie, L - $500K

I say Weathers is a BARGAIN at $2.5M. Why not keep him around for one more year, trade him NEXT year if we're not in the race.
Easy Eddie would be IDEAL if he can make a complete comeback and be a - oh I don't know - SOLID 8TH INNING GUY - if not closer.
If not, we need a STUD Right Hand Closer - say Cordero (for Dunn in trade?) or someone of that caliber.

Majewski shouldn't sniff a reds roster unless he actually out peforms guys like salmon, mcbeth, medlock, and guevarra for an extended period of time in the minors
