I guess Conine is probably safe since he's in the lineup.

nate

I always read this as versus the "Nates."

I could probably only take 1 out of 3 from the Reds on my own.

Gonzo's not ready to play?

Let's end the month with a win!

BRM

Speaking of Gonzalez.

Also, Pete said he wanted to get Gonzalez some ground balls and make sure he's OK before throwing him into the lineup. He'll likely start tomorrow.

Dunn walks and Youngbody flies to Ronny "Big Boned" Belliard.

Reds leave 'em loaded, Nats coming to bat in the bottom of the 1st.

Don't touch that dial.

Freel couldn't have played that much worse.

He could've spontaneously combusted as he got to the ball.

That would've been worse.

BTW: Who is Rod Stupid?

I can't remember the book, it might have been Ball Four, but there was a player talking about Rod Gaspar, (Frank Robinson?) and it was a play on words.

I can't tell the story. Too many holes.

Speaking of the Nats and the trade that didn't happen. I heard GG and CW talking about it being a done deal (LTC for Dinn and all) and Bowden pulled out of the deal last minute. Apparently not liking the Minor leaguers he would have had to part with, along with Cordero and Church. Did anybody catch what the rest of the deal was? Who were the minor leaguers involved?

I have picking through threads and not seen anymore.

0-7 with plus a walk and a sacrifice with RISP through 4 until Conine delivered.

Unbelievably, Conine is 1st or 2nd on the team in avg with RISP.

Eric_Davis
07-31-2007, 08:33 PM
Was the hit by Ross that shallow for Edwin not to try to score, or did they figure that with Livingston up and two outs they might get an intentional walk so they can pitch to Freel?

Eric_Davis
07-31-2007, 08:40 PM
Has Livingston just been getting lucky this year not allowing all those hits and walks and extra-base hits to turn into runs, or does he just step it up a notch when he gets into trouble?

This inning should be another example of what happens when he gets into trouble...bases loaded and nobody out in the 5th after players have already seen him 2 times.

With Harang hurt, and not knowing if Arroyo will be hurt again after his 127 pitch effort, and the likes of #5-#7 pitchers starting every night, this season could get ugly really really fast.

While Lohse had to go, the Reds don't have very much starting pitching left in the major leagues. This kind of meltdown is likely to happen more often now.

I didn't want Krivsky to make bad trades and I'm glad he didn't. But watching this same team for the rest of the year, with Belisle, Livingston, EZ (not fully healthy) and Dumatrait on the hill, well it's not going to be pretty.

With pitching like this, what is the point of having Dunn on the team. I just hope it's an upper half team that signs him to a contract next year and not a bottom half team so we can get a 1st round pick instead of a 2nd round pick to go along with the supplemental pick between the 1st and 2nd rounds. If someone signs Hatteberg also, that will be another supplemental pick between the 1st and 2nd rounds. We could have four picks by the 2nd pick of the 2nd round including the 1st or 2nd overall pick next year. Get out there scouts.
