Hopper better be bunting every time he's up. I just don't understand these managers we get saddled with. Apparently they have no concept of OBP. Oh well.

Really surprised Griffey's in the lineup.

Just a thought...surely we can find a catcher who can hit .250 somewhere. Ross is at .203 and has only 53 hits this year. More of that HR philosophy, I guess. And batting EdE sixth is silly. He's bee smacking the ball.

Never mind...

Rain...a lot of it.

Should be a fun day.

Part of the blame has to go to the GM. There just aren't any good top-of-the-order options on this club.

You just can't stop Jeff Keppinger, Baseball Extraordinare.

Based on this I wonder if they even end up playing this game.

There they are, the "Win Now" Cincinnati Reds.

My guess is this game will not be played today. Both teams have a day off on the 27th of this month right before opening another three game set at PNC Park. If I had to bet, that three game set becomes a four game set.

Arroyo could probably use a rain out to rest his arm.

It'll be at least an hour and a half before it would even start, but could be called before that....so I'm told

We shall see...

I'd like the rain to take this lineup into the sewer

Is a Reds vs. Pirates rainout the same as a tree falling in the forest with no one around?

Will the rain affect the planned 8th inning fireworks spectacular?

Looking at the radar, I don't know what the powers that be are waiting for...

I can't see them playing today.

It's up to the Pirates since the game hasn't started yet. They don't want to have to give out rain checks.

True. However, you don't want to jeapordize players well being either....that field's gotta be soggy....and they're back in Pittsburgh at the end of the month, with both teams having a day off on that Monday....

Of course it will probably rain then too...it seems to rain in Pittsburgh a lot.

Yes. Checking out the REDS's minor league players. Going over the 2006 draftees.

These modern day fields have great drainage systems. There aren't going to be puddles of water out there. Will it be wet? Yeah, but that happens all the time. They played a few innings of that Cubs game and it was raining harder than than it was before the game. But if it's going to rain all day and not let up, they will have to call it. But I'm sure they want to get it in if at all possible.

I don't think it's going to stop, honestly....this is one large cell that stretches into at least Columbus...possibly further

Saarloos struck out the side in the 1st.

Votto struck out and Bruce flew out to CF

That rain almost reaches to INdiana--all north. I seriously doubt we could get it in unless we play tonight. My guess is a makeup game, maybe tomorrow.

What more does he have to prove.. yes he's been in a slump as of late but the guy is batting around .300 with power and somewhat speed.

Odd, neither the Reds or Pirates were scheduled to play on the 27th, 3 game series starts on the 28th.

Chip R

Could be one of those rules where a team has to have an off day every 20 some days and that's why they can't play on the open date.

redsfan30
08-05-2007, 08:35 PM
Unless there are rules against it as Chip stated above, it's just plain stupid to play a double header on Tuesday with both teams having an off day; Reds being in Pittsburgh already.

KronoRed
08-05-2007, 08:46 PM
Maybe the Pirates want the day off, the will have just concluded a 7 day 7 game road trip.

In fact, other then Tomorrow that Monday will be their next off day, they have 21 games over the next 20 days.
