I hope that's what it is.

Me too.. the way it looks is Hatteberg will be back next year and platoon with Votto. Hatteberg has been getting spot starts here and there in favor of Conine. I got to think once a suitor is found for Conine.. Votto is up here starting.

What about the idea of putting a .351 hitter in the #4 spot?

It would be fun to watch how he handles that pressure. It would be hard for him to be worse than Conine. Personally, I'd rather Phillips in the #4 and Dunn in the #2. That would be so sweet.

Congrats to Dunn on another 2-out RBI as teams think they can continue to pitch to him in that situation even though he's 2nd in the league in 2-out RBI's. Only 3 IBB's this year for done instead of the normal dozen.

It's kind of funny - you know a guy has hit a lot of homers in his career: When he hits one out, everyone knows his career total, but there is little mention of his seasonal total (which, actually, is a pretty impressive total).

And, I keep seeing that stat, too, Matt. It does give me hope - but, on the other hand, Junior will not be using stimulants to make himself feel younger as the years go by.

it's not complicated ... look for guys with a history of missing bats (and Bell did in the minors) and stay away from ones that don't. The Pads don't have trouble finding these guys.

The Reds should get Cabrera under contract. If a guy with stuff finally puts it together, look out.

Heath Bell has spent 9 years in the minors. He didn't start dominating AAA until his 7th season in the Minors. Then it took him one more year of dominating the minors and struggling in the Majors, before he began to dominate the Majors in 2007.

He pitched great for the Mets in 2004. Struggled in 2005 and 2006. Although he did strike out nearly a hitter per inning.

The Padres have a guy in AAA that's hit 5 Grand Slams this year tying a Minor League record for most in a season. He has 17 homeruns on the year. 29-year old Pete LaForest.

In 16 at-bats for the Padres this year he hit .316 w/ a .421 OBP.

I think they do feel that way about him. But, who knows when or if, the light will click on for Coffey. The REDS think it will happen and are sticking with him. They keep sending him back to AAA so he can get some confidence back and try to bring it with him to the Majors.
