Edwin hitting in the 8 spot???

I'm not crazy about that , but it is a good-hitting lineup. I'd love to see him bat Edwin 3rd for a while with Griffey behind him and see if he could get his power swing back before the season is over. (Of course, I think Dunn should hit second no matter what, so what do I know?)

How stupid is that?

Don't want to burst your bubble, but with the Cubs playing the Cards, a sweep wouldn't get the REDS that much closer to first.

And..7-8 games behind in August is feasible, but not when there are four teams ahead.

Sorry.

Sorry.

With the Cards 3 games back, we will gain a game on first place as long as the Cards beat the Cubs.

A sweep could get us much closer.

Managers have fallen in love with the shift. I wonder if it really makes a big difference though. In this case, the shift caused the first errors because all the infielders were out of position. If there was no exaggerated shift, that's a tailor made 6-4-3.

1) The play where the Brewers committed two errors on the grounder by Griffey looked like something from the Bad News Bears.

2) Adam Dunn absolutely destroyed that ball! How far did they say he hit it?

3) I would have left Burton in to pitch the ninth. I didn't see any reason to use Weathers there.

Anything hit that far is clutch. Gave the Reds the breathing room they needed. And fun to watch. There was a time when this big, big home run would have been hailed as the fantastic feat of a great player, but not today. We won by too many runs.

The Brewers are going down. They miss their injured pitchers and their ineptitude in the field showed tonight. Having said that, they take the next two, but it was fun. Let's compromise and enjoy this nice run. It may not last long.

WVRedsFan, I finally figured it out. I thought this guy must live in a perpetual state of rain - then I saw you're from RAINelle, WV. Now it all makes sense.

I'll take our chances in the next two games - even as putrid as this team has been, I don't think I've gone into any game believing they were going to lose. I guess hope Springs eternal - which makes sense for my viewpoint - I live in the newly named Spring Grove Village. You won't believe this, but our town has more rainfall per year than Seattle while the town down the road, Lewisburg, gets about half of what we do. Yep, though the town was named for John Raine, a lot of folks think it was named for our most common weather (it's raining now, btw).:)
