As much as I don't like it either I would like to point out that Sparky used to split Foster and Bench up with Dan Dreissen. Bad idea perhaps, but one that is frequently acted upon, even by good teams.

Since Phillips has been hitting between those players a large part of the season, and since the Reds management are clearly not reading your retorts and acting upon them, I would tend to agree with you that you perhaps shouldn't bother bringing it up again.

I think it's righties.

It's a shame to see that to anybody...DLed, rehabbed, back in to play, and instantly hurt again.

He comes out of the game.

Unlike past years, this year Arroyo has been as good vs. LH hitters as RH hitters.

Lifetime vs. Atlanta's LH hitters:

Jones 1-15
Teixeira 2-10

LH hitters are 2-7 tonight

Best I can tell, that's the most runs scored in a major league game by one team since 1897, and is certainly an American League record.

Wow - quick hook! Actually, that's kind of nice to see. I'm guessing that Pete Mac figured with Dunn having to go all out to get the first out and then this fast home run (and probably because it's still 96 degrees outside) that it warranted bringing in a fresh guy.

I'm not sure why Marty and Jeff are baffled by this. I've got to believe with this heat he was out of gas. Jeff himself said that was a possible explanation.

Another wonderful game. Why couldn't this happen in April...or May...or June?

I looked at the stands tonight and no one was there. It's sad considering how well this team is playing right now. No, we're not going to win anything, but this team compared to the teams Narron marched out there is far superior. Kepp has helped and Josh is back. there is no boneheaded baserunning from certain players and no sure outs from the catcher position. Think about it. How many times did Ross come up and goe Oh-for-four while "calling a good game.?" Huh? How many times did Ryan Freel thrill the crowd with a great catch while striking out more than he should? Addition by subtraction. Gonzalez thrills, but Kepp produces and Arroyo just does it (for only 5.1 innings--I know).

Excuse my optimism. It's rare, I know, but I like this team nowadays. Addition by subtraction. Think about it.

You lost a shiny penny. Rangers scored nine runs in the 2nd game and 39 for the double header that broke an AL record for most runs in a DH set back 1937 by the Tigers.

I really like Hamilton and Keppinger at the top of the order. Keppinger is winning a full time job for next season this season. If he keeps this up he may be the 3rd baseman next year.
