PITTSBURGH -- The Reds have acquired OF Buck Coats from the Cubs for a player to be named and cash. He will be sent to Louisville. No word if he's related to Buck Swope
Coats played 18 games for the Cubs in 2006. He played for Class AAA Iowa this season, hitting .303 with 11 home runs and 59 RBIs.

CINCINNATI - Cincinnati Reds Executive Vice President and General Manager Wayne Krivsky today announced the acquisition of OF Buck Coats from the Chicago Cubs in exchange for a player to be named later or cash considerations.
Coats, 25, this season batted .303 with 11 HR, 59 RBI and 18 stolen bases for Class AAA Iowa. His 19-game hitting streak from June 23 to July 14 tied for the fourth-longest this season in the Pacific Coast League.
Coats had spent his entire career with the Cubs organization since he was selected in the 18th round of the June 2000 draft. Last season he made his Major League debut with Chicago, batting .167 in 18 games. He hit his only career home run on September 24 off Aaron Harang.
The Georgia native was a Midwest League All-Star in 2003 with Class A Lansing and a Southern League All-Star in 2005 while playing for Class AA West Tenn.
Coats will be optioned to Class AAA Louisville.
He's the 40th man on the 40-man roster.
