I'm seriously considering watching tonight's game on Extra Innings with the Cardinals announcers even though we have Fox Sports Cincinnati on local cable. Last night was brutal with Grande acting excited everytime Pujols did anything. Most annoying was his calling him "Albert" like he was one of the Reds players. At one point, he announced at the end of the inning, "Albert's up next!' as if Reds fans cared.

Would someone please tell him he's the Reds announcer? I used to remember the Reds PA guy announcing the Reds players in a "sunny" voice and low-keying the opposition. Not George. If he were the PA announcer at GABP, he'd yell "the gold glover Albert is now batting!" Makes me ill.

Pujols ran directly at Phillips, and wasn't close to second base. It was an obvious case of interference, and the Reds got screwed for4 runs.

Absolutely. Even the Cards' terrible weekend announcing team (who repeatedly have professed their dislike for Phillips because of his "showboating") thought Pujols interfered.

I'm not sure if I should take credit for handing out the kiss of death or not. The Reds will be 2-4 since those threads came back for the road trip, but three of those four losses had starting pitchers of Elizardo Ramirez, Tom Shearn, and Phil Dumatrait.

Heading into this road trip, the Reds' postseason hopes was slim to none, with slim heading for the door, but it was at least slightly interesting. Now it's safe to say that, barring another six game winning streak very soon, slim's on a train heading outta town.

Phillips is not happy with what Pujols did on that double play ball.

From John Fays blog:

Cards 11, Reds 3 (thems fighting words)

You've got to admire Brandon Phillips' honesty.

He didn't like the fact that Albert Pujols didn't slide and he said so.

“That shows me has no respect for me,” Phillips said. “He tried to hurt me. If you don’t slide, you try to hurt a player. That taught me a lesson. Lesson learned.

“Just throw it through the (runner). That’s just real talk.”

The play happened as Phillips tried to turn a double play. If he turned it, the Reds get out of the fifth with a 2-1 lead. Instead, they came out of the inning down 5-2.

Phillips tried to talk to Pujols after the play.

“That just let me further know that he doesn't respect me turning a double play,” Phillips said. “From now on, I got to throw the ball through the guy – regardless of who it is.”

Told of Phillips comments, Pujols said: “I play the game hard. I play the game hard every day. Next time, I'll put him into left field.”

Sunday's first pitch is at 2:15 Cincinnati time. I can't wait.

Phillips is not happy with what Pujols did on that double play ball.

From John Fays blog:

This says a lot. "Albert" may be a Gold Glover and Mr. Everything to some, but it was a clear case of interference and an intentional act. Putting Phillips into left field and the threat of such show he has no class.

But I already knew that anyway.
