Do you really think the Reds would retaliate?

I don't.

I hope the Reds call up Homer next time the Reds face the Cards just so he can plant a 97 mph fastball in Pujols earhole.

I'm willing to bet it's LaRussa, citing the fact that Pujols doesn't have much success against Arroyo. But we know why he really isn't playing.

Also what I find interesting about this situation is that I'm sure outsiders look at it as BP making excuses for not turning the double play. But that is just not true. BP always takes full responsibilty for not turning double play balls and in much more important games than last nights ultimately meaningless one.

On the pre-game show they showed Duncan out there smoothing it over for Albert. I swear it's just to keep the Reds from getting too fired up. He wants to make sure sleeping dogs....stay asleep. (or whatever the saying is...is that right?).

Chris had it wrong, that was runner interference. The ump should have called it a double play!

Joseph

Chris lost some points he'd gained with me over that comment he made in the pregame. Pujols came in standing up out of the baseline. Yeah Phillips coulda/shoulda adjusted, BUT Pujols deserved the comments directed his way, especially coming back with the left field comment.

Hey Matt, what does Marty have to say about the Phillips/Pujols incident? I can't get the radio feed where I live. (Too much interference with the signal)

As I said earlier...Thou shalt not criticize thy Cardinal Nation. When he started his sentence with "what Brandon Phillips did wrong" and ended it with, "he shouldn't go yapping to the press," I turned the two stooges off. Either they're for us or against us and I think it's clear this TV team has Cardinal Lust.

Hasn't come up, yet....but probably will with the beat writer.

On the pregame he asked Pete about it...Pete didn't think it was a dirty play, and if the guy doesn't get down, it's his fault if he gets beamed in the head. Phillips pulled a "no no" trying to throw around him.

He'll get down if you make it known to him that you WILL make your play regardless. Otherwise, he'll be in pain.

Is there anything more sickening than GG's undying man-love for all things Cardinal? I only caught the tailend of the remark, but why was StL "the next best place" if Griffey couldn't hit #500 in Cincy?

He needs to just shut up or apply for the Cardinals broadcasting job.

Last night it was that Jr. loved St. Louis and Busch Stadium was his favorite place to play behind the Kingdome.

Bronson is a good pitcher, the team around him isn't doing their job. If they were playing well on defense and doing their thing on offense he'd have the opposite win loss numbers.

Isn't it true that Phillips had a very similar thing happen earlier in the season or was that last year? He basically said the same thing that he'd throw through the player next time. I'm pretty sure of that.

Nah, it's over. Heck, it was over at the end of May. I don't know whether winning the Central is any prize anyway. Even if you won the playoffs, the AL will kill the NL (famous last words).
