Sounds about even. I'll take the REDS and a touchdown.

I have a lot more hope for this matchup than I did for the Sheets - Dumatrait one last sunday

I like to say "Sheeeeet" like "I need to go and have a big sheeeeeettt..." with a french accent.

I bet Cormier could have said it and make it sound pretty funny.

He would have come in handy tonight, but that wasn't probbaly a good enough reason to keep him.

Tom Shearn? Unreal what the guy has done in his starts. I would not have bet any amount of money on it when he got called up. Gotta give the guy credit.

* 4GS, 24IP, 18H, 9ER, 3.38 ERA, 1.08 WHIP.
>> 3-0 record.
>> REDS are 3-1 in his starts... no thanks to Majewski & Guardado.

* 3 quality starts.
(1) 7IP, 4H, 3ER.
(2) 6IP, 3H, 0ER.
(3) 6.2IP, 4H, 3ER.
>> 19.2IP, 11H, 6ER, 2.75 ERA.

I know, I know... it is Tom Shearn. But still. :thumbup:

Just watched my TiVo of the game. The Reds took a big lead and let the Brewers whittle away at it. The difference in the two teams at this stage in the season is the bullpen. Our starter gave up three runs late, but left with a 5-3 lead. We finally tack one one to make it 6-3 and Bray does the unthinkable and allows the 2-run HR to make it close. Our bullpen allows 2 hits and 2 runs in 2 1/3 innings. Their starting pitcher allows 5 runs in 3 innings and their bullpen pitches 6 innings of 5-hit, one run ball. It allowed Milwaukee to catch up.

As I see it, we need two starters and a closer for 2008. No way Weathers should be closing for another year. Bray is not the answer--no swagger and little confidence (as is to be expected with this youngster). Guardado isn't either, no matter how well he pitched tonight. The starters and closer should be Wayne's mission in the off season. We'll see how he does.
