I sure as heck hope that whoever our manager is next year revisits the BP bats cleanup idea. Between his horrific platoon split vR and his groundball tendencies (see the article on Baseball Prospectus today), it's just not a good idea, especially with EE playing so well and showing no platoon split.

EE vR (2007): .299/.349/.457
BP vR (2007): .263/.311/.426

The Cubs are up by three games with six games remaining coming into today. The Brewers will still be alive after today regardless of what happens, but they're running out of time. They pretty much need to win at least five of their last six games and then hope for some help.

I just think that getting outs are usually out of the pitchers hands once they give up a soft ground ball. All three of those found a hole. Are you going to blame Homer for the error by EdE. That ball to EdE was hit harder than 2 of the 3 that our relievers gave up. A pitcher can't decide where the ball goes when a hitter makes contact. You are asking them to make the hitter hit a ball to a fielder. That's pretty tough.

Agreed. I've been disappointed that he hasn't had more innings. His numbers are SO much better than Majewski's, Coffey's or McBeth's that you really have to wonder what's going on. I think he needs work on his secondary stuff -- that's where a better workload could have helped him -- but his fastball appears dominant at times and he's not afraid to challenge hitters with it over the plate. Prior to his last callup they stretched him out to 2-3 inning outings, but he hasn't sniffed that kind of role since -- too bad.
