My vote is F Cordero! If not him K Wood!

I'd like to get Kerry Wood

I think Wood would be a good addition too.

Tom Glavine if we can get him. Kerry Wood or Livan Hernandez if not. I would prefer to getting a SP in free agency than trading away our best young prospects.

I'll go cheap and safe for this year:

Matt Clement 1yr 1.5M

I think that may be realistic to get him.

Kerry Wood, Linebrink, and Cordero. That would give us a very improved bullpen.

I would still take Glavine. I have never thought LoDuca lives up to all the hype that everyone stirs up about him.

I don't have anyone in particular in mind, but the obvious needs are quality pitching, pitching, and more pitching.

Lo Duca wouldn't make sense. The Reds don't need another season of three catchers. With Ross' season, they won't find many takers without paying the majority of his salary and they just picked up Valentin's option. They really don't need any position players. There are several good relievers available, spend the money on those guys...

I like your thinking here, but I think you're correct in thinking that deal wont work. Would love to take a chance on him if we get him cheap and healthy.

Not a fan of bringing in a soft tossing lefty to pitch in Cincy. I think the Glavine we saw at the end of this year is what we'll see more of for the rest of Glavines career. And I agree that we should stay away from LoDuca.

I don't understand why people think Linebrink is so great. His ERA+ the past 2 years are 113. That's very bad for a 6M reliever. His K/BB ratio was 2.00 last year, and HR/9 was 1.54. His FIP last year was 5.11. He's another Weathers at best, but making more money. I think we shouldn't get any relievers, or get 1 great reliever. This team should have learned that signing average RP is not worth it, especially when we have a Roanicke/Violo/ and Pellend in the minors waiting to be called up who will make league minimum. We also have McBeth who has potential and Burton who should be very good, and Salmon (who had the same ERA+ as Linebrink). We also have Bray, who hopefully breaks out this year. It's not worth 6M to keep back a replacement who is 5.5M cheaper.

I wouldn't pursue any major FA's other than Kerry Wood...

we cannot expect Cordero to meet the lofty expectations that will come with the money he gets this offseason...
