View Full Version : Cincy at Pitt

With more weather passing thru Pitt tonight and the conition the field was in last week what is this game going to be like tonight?

I just checked the weather and it is about to start raining in Pittsburgh. Guessing some of this weather has been in Ohio today?

I took the Bengals +7 and the under. Hoping to see a game like the Dolphin, Steeler game last week.

I just hope Lewis doesn't run the ball all day, I think the Bengals would be much more successful with the short pass game in this weather.

I say 3 - 2 Bengals. Palmer will hand on to Rudi in the endzone, and he'll trip.

From what I've seen from the Bengals this season, I'd have a tough time saying they should beat anybody - much less at a division rival with an 8-3 record.

7-0 Bengals already. Very impressive drive to start the game. However, they've put together a great first drive in just about every game they played this year. Let's see if the offense can continue to produce.

So far, the conditions appear to be favoring the Bengals quite a bit. I didn't have much hope for this game initially, but the Roethlisberger apparently can't throw a wet football and the Steelers can't move the ball. Palmer's having some problems, but nothing near like Roethlisberger that I've seen.

As far as I'm concerned, the sloppier the conditions get, the better for the Bengals.

MaineRed
12-02-2007, 09:06 PM
Especially with the 7-0 lead while continuing to win the field position battle. The game is being played on the Bengals half of the field right now.

It is quite reasonalbe to believe the 7-0 lead will hold up.

Well, it's been an interesting first half. It seemed that Roethisberger had issues with rain earlier; resulting in a number of high throws. Then Palmer caught that bug and his receivers decided it was contagious. Sloppy Bengals' offense after a very impressive opening drive.

And I was surprised that Lewis didn't challenge the Roethisberger TD run. I thought his knee hit before his momentum carried him into the end zone.

They have given up 12 sacks the past 2 weeks to the two worst teams in the league and yet the Bengals defense can't even get in the backfield. Rudi had not been Rudi all year, due to injury and a poor front line. This forces you into 3rd and long a lot of times and not alot of points. I would like to know the amount of points scored this year and the same time last year. I bet it's staggering.

They were talking about the wind earlier. It seems like anything with some loft to it got overthrown. I can't help but think the wind has an effect on those passes. I wish I could think that this team will have an 8-8 season, but I have a very strong feeling the losing is not over.

I have a feeling the Browns will kick our butts - and do it at home, as well. St. Louis might be a win - pretty miserable team.
Has any Cincy team ever won on the west coast...we go up in San Fran...not confident about that game, either.

Then there is the Miami game. I am actually beginning to dread it. If the Dolphins are still winless, they could very well be playing their hearts out in that game.
I do not see the Bengals having the kind of passion to overcome that kind of opponent.

Some of Rudi's poor rushes weren't entirely his fault. He might have had a second TD if Ghiachuc could have maintained his block a little longer. But Rudi still seems a step slow. His running plays take forever to develop. With Watson or Dorsey in, it seems like a different team.

Sorry about the result, Bengals fans, but thanks for hanging out and chatting during the game. If you're looking for revenge, you probably don't need to wait any longer than 12/09/07 when Pittsburgh faces the New England juggernaut.

Ya, i am kind of glad I will be at Disney and not able to see that one. Not much that the Steelers did tonight convinces me they are going to be able to give NE much of a game.

i would like to see Carson start to step it up instead of one week suck, next week play great to go to Pittsburgh and go right back to sucking!!Dear Bengals offense!!.. a game is 4 quarters.. not only 1!!

i hope they loose the rest as they dont care!!

I would like to see the Bengals give the ball to the running back that is actually playing good this season.

Hey.....what's the issue?

Wont see my name on any waiting list... the sad part? when Mike Brown either dies or sells, there will only be a party.. no mourning like the city did for Joe Nuxhall!!

Matt,

How about a good Reds trade or free agent signing this week?

Sounds good to me...

I don't want to talk about this football team all week....I don't think it's possible....what can you say?

That's a very good point. Pittsburgh does a great job of playing run defense, though.

And now Chad Johnson catches a pass on fourth down and just backs himself out of bounds short of the stick. Is his head anywhere near the game?

To be fair to Chad, the way the ball was thrown he didn't have any chance at doing anything other than basically falling out of bounds.

I can understand a pattern in the middle of the field that doesn't get to the sticks, but to throw it to the sideline without trying to get the first doesn't make sense.

Well, on the comical side, I get to listen to Jim Scott's scripted questions at 7:25 a.m. It's funny listening to him try to ask these probing questions when its obvious he doesnt know the name of our quarterback.

Its interesting how little an effect Chris Henry's return has had on this team.

Maybe its time to acknowledge that the team needs to get much better up front on BOTH sides of the football in order to start being anything other than maddeningly inconsistent.

I certainly wouldn't be against them upgrading a few positions on the OL as well as the DL. I just hope they stop blowing high draft picks on RBs and DBs for a while. Let's get some real help in the trenches, because that's where games are won and lost.

Why is Rudi still getting the ball?

Why is Dexter Jackson still playing?

Why are the Bengals coordinators and coaches morons?

Why is the Bengals scheme so predictable while other teams disguise things and cause the other team trouble?

The answer to all 4 questions: nobody knows why and it probably won't change.

The Bengals never seem to adjust to the conditions.

You sincerely could have stopped after the word adjust.

This team has talent on the offensive side, but when a team makes adjustments, the Bengals don't make follow up adjustments. Its sad to watch.

All night, post the first drive, Madden is saying 'The Bengals can't go long, the Steelers are giving them out routes and hooks, but they can't get the deep ball.' Yet over and over you see them not taking what the defense is giving them. This offense is good enough, they just aren't smart enough. You exploit the weakness and the soft spots in a defense, its really simple. A six yard hook, a five yard out...first down. Its not complex. Then when they adjust to try to take that away, you can try to hit on a long pass again.

If its so evident to the fans watching, the broadcasters in the booth, and the guy selling beer in 140, why isn't it evident to the Bengals? I don't understand it.

It was dreadful watching all those long pass plays that got them nowhere. Seems the Bengal problems aren't just on D. The offense didn't do anything after that first drive.

I thought the defense has played very "2005-like" the past few weeks, not great but not terrible. They have finally had some consistency after all the injuries and while they sometimes make you want to bang your head against the wall, they have been getting turnovers and bending but not breaking. Unfortunately, the offense has played very "2002-like" the whole year (minus the Cleveland and Tenn. games).
