Colorado's Carroll being shipped to Cincy or Cleveland?
Thursday, Dec 6, 2007 6:51 pm EST
The Denver Post reported the Colorado Rockies are on the verge of trading second baseman Jamey Carroll to either the Cincinnati Reds or the Cleveland Indians. The Post reported the trade could be completed soon.
Carroll, the spunky infielder who became a fan favorite with his hustle and slick fielding, wants to be traded so he could get more playing time. Carroll has a $2.3 million guarantee.
The Rockies' search for a veteran second baseman no longer includes Mark Loretta. Loretta, 36, was viewed as possible replacement for Kazuo Matsui. With him out of the mix, that leaves Takahito Iguchi as the top candidate to become the Rockies' new second baseman. Former Cardinal David Eckstein is viewed as a darkhorse candidate.
