...on a minor league contract. They are former superstar Shawn Green (OF) and former Philly Mike Lieberthal (c). Lieberthal is now 36 and Green is 35 years old. Each has suffered major power drops and thus may be available on the cheap. Would you take on these two if you could sign them to a minor-league contract with an offer to spring training + incentives if the make the team and open the season as a Cincinnati Reds player?

If one of the outfielders are traded namely Freel or Hopper, I would jump on bringing in Green at the right price. As far as Lieberthal, I offerhim the chance to make the major league team but given a minimal contract +a few incentives to seal the deal. More competition always helps.

Sorry. These stats aligned beautifully until I clicked on "Save". Again, sorry for the mess.

I think freel and hopper are better options than green at this point in his career. Plus they are both right handed and I think bruce should and will be starting anyway.

As for Lieberthal i dont think its a bad idea to take a minor chance on him

Shawn Green doesn't seem to fit because the reds need someone who can hit lefties as a reserve. Kevin Mench makes some sense.

I think it would be hard to get Greene in Cincy on a minor league deal. I could be wrong obviously, but I think he could find a Major League contract somewhere and more guaranteed PT.

I really think the Reds should bring in Fred McGriff or Dale Murray. Their power has dropped but they could probably hit as well as Patterson did.
