Phillips is a fine player, but with a new manager I was really hoping to get him out of the cleanup spot this year.

Phillips is a fine player, but with a new manager I was really hoping to get him out of the cleanup spot this year.

Especially against RHP's.

Harang K's the Bourne Identity to start this game off.

cumberlandreds
03-11-2008, 01:13 PM
Harang K's Cruz and is off to a blistering start.

cumberlandreds

See cumberland's post above (and a few hours before the game up yonder in this here thread).

cumberlandreds

Two perfect innings by Harang. No score in the 2nd.

cumberlandreds
03-11-2008, 01:30 PM
Double perfect games going so far. No score, obviously, after two.

Tom Servo
03-11-2008, 01:31 PM
Other than Pence that Astros squad is real weak.

cumberlandreds
03-11-2008, 01:36 PM
Harang is Mr. Perfect through three innings. I would say he's about ready to start the season. Of course this isn't exactly the Astros A team being run out there today.

membengal
03-11-2008, 01:36 PM
Regardless, Harang is apparently dealing. 9 up and 9 down.

cumberlandreds
03-11-2008, 01:37 PM
The Astro announcers say he looks in mid season form.

cumberlandreds
03-11-2008, 01:42 PM
Backe is vying for the Mr. Perfect title too. After three no one has reached base.

cumberlandreds
03-11-2008, 01:45 PM
The Bourne Identity goes yard to break up the perfect game. 1-0 Stros.

cumberlandreds
03-11-2008, 01:47 PM
Hunter Pence goes long and the Stros go up 2-0.

cumberlandreds
03-11-2008, 01:48 PM
Freel makes a diving catch to end the inning. No word on if he killed anyone doing it.

cumberlandreds
03-11-2008, 01:52 PM
Freel singles to break up the Backe perfecto but Keppinger promptly hits into a DP.

cumberlandreds
03-11-2008, 01:56 PM
After a Griffey walk,Phillips bounces out to end the inning. 2-0 Astros.

cumberlandreds
03-11-2008, 01:59 PM
Harang is back out there for the 5th. Starting to stretch these starters out.

membengal
03-11-2008, 02:00 PM
It's just like a regular season game too, because Harang is getting no run support.

Hope Valentin's OK after that collision with Abercrombie at the plate.

cumberlandreds
03-11-2008, 02:10 PM
Astros score a run to make it 3-0. Harang labored a little more that inning. I would say that is it for him today.

cumberlandreds
03-11-2008, 02:11 PM
Hope Valentin's OK after that collision with Abercrombie at the plate.

Apparently he's OK since he stayed in the game.

"In the regular season, pitch count won't matter." - Astros announcer...that was not taken out of context.

cumberlandreds

Backe is out. Someone named Leslie Wright is now pitching.

cumberlandreds

Leslie's a girl's name.

Looks like mass substitutions for the Reds.

OK -- here are your changes. Drew Stubbs in center, Jose Castro at short, Rios in right, Janish at second, Anderson in left, Barker at first and Colina behind the plate

cumberlandreds

Looks like mass substitutions for the Reds.

Oh boy, another Castro.

cumberlandreds
03-11-2008, 02:34 PM
This Castro is no better than the other as he bounces into a 1-2-3 DP and then Rios grounds out to end what was a bases loaded no out threat.

cumberlandreds
03-11-2008, 02:35 PM
Kent Mercker is now pitching.

membengal
03-11-2008, 02:36 PM
Drew Stubbs in? Interesting that he gets a tiny taste of the bigs. I would guess they will beticketing him for AA to start the year.

traditionally, he'd go to high A given where he played last year and the fact that he didn't tear it up

but I'd send him to Chattanooga. I challenge hitters, plus Chatt has been better for hitters than the Florida league team has been.

BRM

C. Trent says Stubbs walked in the 6th.

LoganBuck
03-11-2008, 02:43 PM
Stubbs played in some spring training games last year as well, iirc.

Walks clog the bases.

he'll try to fix that with a caught stealing

cumberlandreds

Coco Cordero is now in to pitch. I think the Astro announcers believe the Reds paid too much for him.

That's the spirit! You don't want to clog those bases with runners, keep them free and clear for all the inside the park homers.

cumberlandreds
03-11-2008, 02:56 PM
Cordero gives up hit and a stolen base but not a run. 3-0 Astros in the 8th.

cumberlandreds
03-11-2008, 03:02 PM
Stubbs line out into the alley in left center to end the 8th. Robbed by the Bourne Identity.

cumberlandreds
03-11-2008, 03:15 PM
Astros score a run in the 9th to take a 4-0 lead. Castro,Don't call me Jaun, triples to start the Reds rally in the 9th.

BRM
03-11-2008, 03:17 PM
Mike Lincoln gave up the run in the 9th.

cumberlandreds

cumberlandreds

Thanks, my connection went bad for a few minutes.

cumberlandreds
03-11-2008, 03:20 PM
Anderson walks and the Reds dent the scoreboard. 4-1 no one out and the bases are drunk.

cumberlandreds
03-11-2008, 03:21 PM
Barker rips a single into right. One run scores and the bases are still loaded. 4-2 Astros.

BRM

Hopefully they bring in a plumber to unclog the bases.

cumberlandreds
03-11-2008, 03:25 PM
Colina doubles home three runs and this one belongs to the Reds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Reds score five in the ninth to come back from the dead.

cumberlandreds
03-11-2008, 03:27 PM
Hot Rod Lincoln gets the win. I would imagine the Astros will be cutting a couple of pitchers after this.

cumberlandreds
03-11-2008, 03:35 PM

According to the box score he only had one. So he's back on the team.;)
