Many are drawing a tie to the waiver of Chris Henry to Chad Johnson and his bargaining power with the Bengals; The argument goes that with henry gone the Bengals will have to make Chad happy.

I see the link but come to the exact opposite conclusion. Less than a week before he was waived, Chad was partying with Chris Henry and both were thrown out of a nightclub for being drunk and destroying the place. Now Chris is on the street facing criminal charges and a probably lifetime ban from the NFL (Goodell said Henry was on his last chance).

Drew may be a slick, unethical negotiator, but he didnt get to where he is by being an idiot. The whole league just read that Chad Johnson was out getting drunk with a rehabbing junior player that was on his last chance in the NFL... and six days later that hugely talented kid's career is over. Let's face it, Chris Henry is just not that bright and thus very prone to peer pressure. From those who lived near him, Henry had been keeping a low profile this offseason and then Chad just 'peered' him out of the league. Drew has to realize that Chad's chance of the big K somewhere else probably just evaporated. There are risks and there are risks... bringing in a clubhouse cancer is one risk that a team like Dallas or NE may be able to overcome...(positive clubhouse presence can overcome that) but bringing in a guy that is gonna end the careers of teammates through bad mentorship off the field... that one is much harder to accept.:thumbdown

That said... Chad does deny being there, so maybe this is mis-identification. It would be odd, now that ya think about it, for Chad to even be in town considering he is not participating in workouts.

I heard it was Chris Perry, Chris Henry and Domato Petko involved in the club incident - not Chad.

Henry and some other Bengals could face criminal charges in an incident early Sunday at BANG nightclub.

Chris Henry, Chris Perry and Domata Peko were escorted out by police when the club closed, and a police officer working security around 1 a.m. said the players had become unruly.

"They're destroying a ceiling in the back room here, and they're all highly intoxicated," the officer said in a recording obtained by News 5. "The bar owner wants them ejected from the bar, so we're going to try and eject them now, but they've been kind of rowdy all night."

Multiple sources told News 5 that Henry was smoking a marijuana cigar inside the club and some of the players hung from a chandelier, ripping it from the ceiling.

Witnesses also said the players sprayed champagne on patrons and lifted up women’s skirts before they were escorted out.

Police said no charges have been filed pending the settlement of damages.

"We got a few Bengals players in here: Chris Henry, Chad Johnson and them," the officer said on his call for backup, citing two of the players he believed he recognized.

I have a problem with that statement because it comes from a recording of an officer at the scene who had yet to positively ID'd the players. The officer should have just said "we have a few Bengals players in here" without naming names until the officer was 100% certain.

That's what I heard too. I was under the impression that Chad was either in Miami or New York from his recent (insane) interviews. The cops should have ID'd the players better that night.

Per Bengals.com

Peko
CLARIFICATION: The BANG Nightclub in downtown Cincinnati issued the following press release Tuesday in distancing defensive tackle Domata Peko from what media reports have called a disturbance at the club in an incident in which there have been no charges filed.

"To clarify an earlier press release, BANG Nightclub states that although Mr. Domata Peko was present at the club on Saturday, March 29, 2008, his behavior was not unruly. Further, any association made by media outlets or others between Mr. Peko and those persons who engaged in unruly or abusive behavior is incorrect. We thank Mr. Peko for his assistance in resolving this matter and wish him and the Cincinnati Bengals success in the coming season.

BANG Nightclub is an upscale establishment that strives to treat all guests equally. BANG expects its guests to treat one another with class and respect. Accordingly, BANG will not tolerate unruly or illegal behavior."

You are completely wrong if you say Chad Johnson was drunk. The guy hangs out with people I know in Clifton and they say he never drinks even a drop of alcohol. Doesn't mean he is an angel though :) I've heard some crazy stories, just always thought it was weird that he doesn't drink.

I talked to Shaun Smith a couple times (at a liquor store in Covington, no less), and he also said that Chad never drinks. For the record, Smith also said that he never drinks during the season (even though it was during the season when he was hanging out at the liquor store). For the record, he never bought alcohol )that I saw).
