The third hit by catcher Dave Van Gorder was the game winner in the ninth as the Reds edged the Phils 4-3. The Reds tied the game in the eighth when outfielder Floyd Robinson homered. The Phils had taken the lead in the topof the eighth when first baseman Bill White homered. The starting pitchers for the Phils, Ray Herbert and for the Reds Bruce Berenyi pitched well. The Reds newly acquired closer Ben Hayes got the win. Unfortunately left hander Gred Cadaret surrendered the home run to White. Tomorrow the Phils go with Wayne Twitchell, the Reds counter with Erik Hansen

He's made a few threads about former Reds players that no one has heard about but other than that he's ok.

Actually Bruce Berenyi pitched in one of those games in which a pitcher did something I will never forget.
In his big league debut vs stros, he walked the first six batters before being pulled not retiring a batter.
Went on to be a pretty good pitcher for the reds.

great stuff, mediocre control, gave up very few homeruns, one of the great red pitchers with b.b. as initials
Bill Bonham
Bob Buchanon

Did Bill Scherrer or Tim Birtsas get in the game?

redsupport

Yes in fact, Scherrer relieved Marcus Moore and was preceeded by Dwayne Henry
Tim Birtsas was preceeded by Larry Leubbers, and followed by Steven Foster

I was actually just thinking today about a new stat....a "no-outer"...which would ideally be just as rare as a no hitter.

It would be obviously for a starting pitcher who records no outs. The only question is how many batters minimum would a pitcher have to face in order to earn the dubious "no-outer".

If memory serves me correctly I witnessed a Jeff Austin debacle about 4-5 years back.

Jeff Austin was money, I think in that game he permitted three homers in the fourst just like our hero Phil Dumatrait

Off season acquisition Roger Nelson pitched brilliantly for over 5 innings as the Reds used timely hitting to edge the Phils 8-2. Nelson struck out 8. The Phils starter Ray Culp took the loss. Nelson pitched out of trouble fanning slugger Larry Hisle with men on base. The Reds offense was lead by the intrepid hitting from infielder rafael Santo Domingo who continues to be productive from the second slot in the line up. Leadoff hitter Joel Youngblood delivered two hits as did outfielder Larry Stahl who homered. The finale matches Dick Ruthven for the Phils vs. Charlie PUleo for the Reds.

Red, are these actual games or are you simply plugging obscure players in for Reds players?

These are accurate game summaries with remote players plugged in to honor their meritorious service with the Reds. These esteemed greats should not be forgotten!

HAHA, being that most of the poster on Sun Deck are probably below the age to remember such names. How about updating at least from 1990 on?

Mix it up. Old school Reds one day. Disney characters the next. Famous farmers. Signers of the Declaration of Independence. Current Reds minor leaguers. You have stumbled upon something here, Redsupport. Run with it.

i've read these for awhile i believe, and i find nothing wrong with em, i find it funny that so many years from now, someone else could post something just like the original poster with the current names and people might be asking the same question (what????)because ya never know

Newly acquired right hander John Denny pitched 5 innings as the Reds bested MIlwaukee 12-4. The Reds had home runs by outfielders Dick Simpson and Steve pegues today. In addition infielder JUlian Javier had three hits. The Milwaukee club had homers by Lee Maye and Billy Bruton but starter Billy O'dell took the loss. For the Reds strong relief was provided by Mike Smith, and Todd Williams. Tomorrow the Reds throw Doug Capilla the Milwaukee teams counters with JIm Slaton

While these are not my cup of tea, could you at least post the date that corresponds to the game? Are these games that were played on the same date many years ago, or just an arbitrary game you picked out from an old scorecard you kept?

I understand that this is a "private" website and I have to follow the rules of posting...

That said...I can't believe one of these threads is allowed everyday...but if someone wants to start a thread about an in-game event during said game the thread gets closed.

I love Redszone but I don't get this one.
