Ok, a few years ago the Reds played a "throwback" game where they wore uniforms like the Big Red Machine wore in the 70's, can anyone tell me the date of that game? Better yet, does anyone have it recorded. I just got some interesting memorabilia from the game and would love to have the date for it.

I don't know, but I do seem to remember the Pirates playing an old school game where they turned of all of the scoreboards and had a guy announce the lineups standing on top of the dugouts.

They played Houston. I believe it was fall of 2002. Jimmy Haynes started for the Reds and knocked in at least one run at the plate. I'll try to piece something together from that info that I can recall.

I was close. It was July 1, 2002. It was also dollar hot dog night and 3 dollar red seats. There were 32,000 people there but it was weird because the red seats were almost full but the lower sections had lots of open seats.

I actually taped the game just because of the uni's.
Incidentally I really wish the reds would wear those sunday special home jersey's more.
I always liked their ST uni's and these are about as close as you will get !

I want to see a throwbck game in the '63 uni. The last names under the numbers. Even thought the Reds were awesome in the 70's, those elastic waist pants were hidious.

They also wore throwbacks a couple years ago vs. the Indians. The Tribe even used the old all red look they had from 70's. I know getty has pictures of that game to view. Just search indians reds games and you will find them.
