According to Fay:

Coffey out; Bray in

The Reds called up left-hander Bill Bray and optioned right-hander Todd Coffey to Triple-A Louisville.

AWESOME! At least they're doing something.

Coff to me is an enigma. There have been multiple times where he has "blown people away" in AAA. He has streaks of brilliance in the bigs, but to me, his poor performance reeks of confidence issues. Bray has shown he can put up at least decent numbers (great at times). I'm still kinda surprised about this, though.

Reds just shaved 10 minutes off the average game time for 2008.

My "surprised" thing was sarcasm, BTW.

Contrary to what Marty said during the radio broadcast yesterday, Bray has pitched on back-to-back days.

He should be plenty fresh tonight, having most recently thrown 2 innings on the 24th. He also threw 2/3 of an inning on the 19th and 20th.

Of course, Arroyo is pitching tonight, so...

Its about time. Bray has nothing more to prove there and Todd needs to go down there and work on things. I'd have done it sooner.

That's a good move by the Reds. Coffey hasn't pitched well at all this year, but Bray has. We need another quality arm down there, and Coffey wasn't getting it done.

Coffey was given more than a fair share of opportunities this year and could not capitalize. I feel he has the talent to pitch in the big leagues, but his head is blocking his abilities when he reaches the top level.

Maybe at this point, a change of scenery would benefit all parties involved if the Reds can find a taker. At the very least, money invested in a sports psychologist may help him overcome his issues.

Coffee is an AAA player at this point nothing more. I hope we don't see him back up.

It's about time. I'd say Arroyo and Affeldt have a good chance of switching spots if Arroyo doesn't have a good outing tonight.

If Arroyo gets rocked again tonight he is headed to the DL.

I was wondering about that. I kept hearing Marty saying that there was ZERO CHANCE of Bray coming up because of his no back-to-backs. Good to hear he was mistaken.

Now we just need to bring up Roenicke, Bruce & Homer. :O)

....and this time to stay.

The fruits of "the trade" are going to continue to pay off. We already got Volquez as the result of "the trade". Next year Thompson comes up after strengthening his arm at AA and AAA two years in a row.

St. Louis would be a great place for Junior to hit #600. The St. Louis fans are nothing but class and will give him the standing ovation he deserves.

Explain to me how we got Volquez from "the trade".

I wondered that too, I am assuming he is making conections, and means trading Kearns allowed us to pursue and sign Hammy, who we were able to trade for Vol?

Bray AND Fogg did pitch well out of the bullpen on Tuesday night.

Bray 1.2 IP 0 ER

Fogg 4.2 IP 0 ER

Billy seemed a little off but that could've been some jitters being back up. 3hits and 2BB's in 1.2 arent great by any means but he did get a few K's and allowed 0 runs which is the only real number that counts.
