I know nobobdy would want him but its been said the rangers are done with him and hes requested to be traded. Being a switch hitter and having the power he at least at one time had it be worth picking him up for nothing and giving him a shot at first to back up votto if hattebergs traded. Almost reminds me of a Brad Eldred though and nothing ever came of him when he was overshadowed by Steven Pearce. its a longshot.

Botts cannot feild a postion, either in the OF or 1b. Has trouble with MLB FB's espically on the insde partof the plate. Would leave a hole on the bench, because he cant play anywhere.

i never said he had to be on the mlb team. pick him up, if he does well in triple A and hattebergs traded, he could be worth it. not like we would give anything up to get him. worth a shot. regardless of how horrid he is defensively or hitting fastballs inside the plate. a change of enviroment and a little time could possibly help out somewhat.

Out of options, has to be put on the 25 man. If he wasnt out of options Texas would have sent him down.

per: www.mlbtraderumors.com
WEDNESDAY: Botts wants out of Texas; he'd like a fresh start with another team. GM Jon Daniels will attempt to find a taker, but otherwise Botts will have to go to Triple A.

TUESDAY: The Rangers have given up on Jason Botts, designating him for assignment. Botts, 27, played first base and various other roles in 15 games for the Rangers this year.

I can see him passing through waivers unclaimed. Botts may have earned the dreaded Quad-A label. He's failed to produce in 282 big league ABs but has raked Triple A pitching.

I was aware he was out of options. The thing is if its really going to be as hard as they make it seem to get rid of him like they want he should pass through waivers easily. regardless worst case we make it one of the player to be named later or future cash consideration type deals and end the end send the rangers $1 like the reds recieved for LaRue. So the worst case scenario is the reds recieve him for $1 and some other team claims him off waivers.
