The combination of Bako and Valentin is better than that combination of Ross and Bako.

Valentine is by far the worst catcher.

Ross has a higher OPS+ this year and has a higher career OPS+
Valentine is also a horrible defensive catcher, while Ross is above average.

Can someone please give a reasonable argument why Valentine is better than Ross?

Dont know, but you have to give him more then 10 at bats in a season before making a final judgement on the man. Not to mention he is a good defensive catcher-which is the highest priority in a catcher, anything else he gives you with the bat is a bonus. Would I like to have a better one, yes, but for our current options, he is pretty good.

Javy is basically a pinch-hitter who wears catching equipment. He's not a very good catcher. Bako/Ross make a better combination.
