The thing I like about Kelsch (so far--the jury's still out) is the "edge" he has to his voice--something SS never had. SS always reminded me of Mr. Rogers in the booth. Kelsch has that growl.

I think Kepp IS an everyday player, just not at any one position.

RedlegJake
05-14-2008, 07:44 PM
Kepp to me is a great super sub guy who gets in almost every day. As a day in day out player he is a compromise almost everywhere - not enough pop or not enough range. He is a guy you ned in the lineup whenever you can, though. I just think he is so perfect for the super sub role I don't want to hand him an everyday position.

Six shutout innings for Arroyo. He's at 96 pitches so that will probably be his last inning.

He's showing off that rag he's got tonight. The throws are accurate, though Patterson still doesn't have much on them. But when the Marlins are running balls they shouldn't be running on in the first place it gives him a chance to make a play.

Yeah. I'm not quite sure why Ramirez went to 3rd on that play when Patterson was so close. Plus he's already in scoring position at 2nd. Hey, maybe the Fish are trying to get thrown out for the cycle. ;)

05-14-2008, 09:30 PM
It is really nice to see Arroyo regain his touch with the breaking pitches. His early struggles were really puzzling to me, given how very very sharp he was with his breaking stuff in spring training.

It could be, I suppose, that when you throw the kind of exotic junk that Bronson does, that when you lose a feel for throwing those pitches (which is another possibilitiy for his ineffectiveness) it can take awhile to get it back and resume previous effectiveness.

I still think this team is much improved when it comes to pitching, and we are starting to see the fruits of that. This season is far from over.
