42,023 at the game today.
35,468 of them who knew what was coming with Weathers. Sadly, one of them wasn't Dusty.
Bray walks Sizemore.
One on, two outs.

If the Reds lose this one, it will be their fourth consecutive loss in front of a sellout crowd.
Now THAT's a stat that should cause Cast to tear his hair out.

Sizemore swipes second, his 9th steal of the year, and second on the day.
Apparently Bray was less than helpful at keeping him close.
The Indians used to have an Asian pitcher who ate *other* kinds of hot dogs.
I hope he used "condoments" buh bum bump....

Huge part of the game here for Bray.
Ks Peralta.
Nice job.
Middle of the 9th, 2-1 Cleveland.

Sans the walk, nice work by Bray.

Votto
EE
Dunn
Interesting to see who Cleveland runs out there to try and close it.

I bet sellout is all he's thinking about....

Good job Bray...

We want Bruce! We want Bruce! We want Bruce!
Let me second that one. Bruce instead of Griffey would help out so much!

05-17-2008, 06:42 PM
I bet sellout is all he's thinking about....
I hope not. He SHOULD be thinking about how to get MORE sellouts.
Winning would help.
Kobyashi still in to try and close the game.
ETA: Hint to Bob Cast---the Bruce somewhere in the line-up would be a HUGE help along those lines. Just sayin'.

42 HR

At 28, he is in his prime. I have been telling everyone I know that has been down on him so far, that he will probably have a career year. I still stand by my prediction of 47 HR, 110 RBI and a .940 OPS.

Anyone else feel a good defender would have caught the 2nd inning double off the bat of Garko? It was well hit but catchable IMO.
Good pitching gave the Reds a chance to win it in the 9th.
I think the last time the Reds won five in a row was sometime last millenium.

The only crime is Harang pitched another great game and did not get the win - but at least he did not get the loss.
I liked the man-love being shown to Aaron by Manning and Thom during the broadcast - Thom has obviously seen him more, but it sounded like Rick is impressed with what he has seen of Harang, especially since he is tough against Cleveland.

Don't know if anyone waited long enough to see it, but they (someone) interviewed Adam after the game. He said Dusty asked him if he could bunt and, he said "Yes, I do it every day in BP". Dusty said he'd give him a couple tries and then take the sign off.
One thing I find incredible... Dusty didn't double switch him out of the game like he often does.... good thing too.

I'd like to thank the walk-taking and home run hitting Adam Dunn for winning me $50. Big Indians fan at work got cocky and wanted to bet on which team would win this series. He wanted to bet $20 and being the loyal (dumb?) REDS fan... I told him to step up to the plate and put $50 on it. He did. Cha-ching.
Four consecutive quality starts are helping the cause. The REDS have won the last 6 times in which a starter has given them a QS.

No reason for him to bunt with the tying run already on 2nd. If Dunn hits instead of bunting you get 3 tries for the tie. plus a gapper ( or obviously a home run ) wins the game.

I had to leave mid-game and the Reds were losing when I left my car. I was downtown when the game ended when I heard the fireworks I have to admit I was pretty stunned. Was kept abreast by the following texts sent by an out-of-towner friend who is ostensibly not a Reds fan but finds the team and the broadcasts greatly entertaining:

6:55 pm Bottom 9: 2-1 indians. Votto singles. Anti clutch ee draws clutch hbp. I send u a text. 7th place hitter adam dunn cant lay down bunt. With two strikes dunn kills rally leading the reds to a 4-2 win. baker and family brennamen are seen off camera sharpening darts for their dunn dartboard!

It's pretty clear that if Dusty was trying to send a message, that final at bat indicates Dunn isn't getting it. Wowsers what a inconsistent at bat. He was completely lazy on the first pitch where he tried to bunt. Completely nonchalant on the pitch he took. Come on! Be aggressive! Then finally he tried his best on the homerun. So even in that at bat he only showed work ethic for a single pitch.
Pay someone to take him. Please.

Seems to me the Reds are undefeated since Dusty moved Dunn down in the order. Kind of hard to criticize Dusty's move now. Maybe batting order doesn't have as much to do with winning and losing as some of us fans thought. I don't care where he bats Dunn as long as they win!

You don't understand. It goes something like this:
1. There is an optimal lineup. If you use it over the course of 3,500 games, you will win more games than if you use any other lineup. Provided the games are played in succession so that the players do not age more than necessary in that timespan.
2. If the optimal lineup is not used and it scores a lot of runs, the runs are to be attributed to luck. Except if the runs are produced by Adam Dunn. Those runs are to be attributed to him.
3. Under no condition may credit for a sub-optimal lineup doing well be given to the manager (he who creates the lineup). And, in every instance of a sub-optimal lineup doing poorly the blame must be assigned to the manager (because, duh, he creates the lineup).
Simple enough.
You don't understand. It goes something like this:
Yes. Exactly in strawman world.

Just poking fun, jojo. Absolutes need to have their hair mussed every now and then. Especially when they lay claim to "reality."

That's not my recollection TB. I admit I don't have a transcript but I don't recall the phrase "7 hole" coming out of anyone's mouth until Dunn brought it up.
They showed the clip again during yesterday's game (Sunday). Thom was the first to bring it up.
