A strange 1st for Volquez. Started well with 2 strikeouts. Then struggled with a double, hit by pitch and walk. Then got out of it with another strikeout.

Going to be a challenge to score tonight. Somehow Reds have five lefty hitters in the lineup against Estes. I guess the Reds are so good they don't need to use righties against lefties.

This could be the worst lineup of the season, not batting order, but player selection. With EE out, at least use Ross from the right side. Probably would have made sense to play Hairston in the outfield and Janish at short.

Last inning, it looked to me like a called double steal. Not to defend Patterson but I doubt he went on his own there.

It's really hard to fathom what is going on with this ballclub. They have now scored five runs in the last 37 innings. That's one run every seven plus innings.

They play all lefty batters against lefty pitchers and do it night after night. Yet a guy like Ross sits on the bench, somebody who is decent against lefties for a catcher.

Maybe now they can at least get a run to avoid V getting tagged with a loss. I hope so because the guy really doesn't deserve to lose tonight.
