Ok, another 0-4 and he now sits at .213

Doesn't anyone, especially BoB C see what damage this guy has done hitting in the #1 and #2 hole...

I am not sure what is going on here. But "Win Now" ?

Come on... This charade has gone on LONG enough...

Bat Votto in the 2 hole in front of Junior and maybe he can have some better AB's...

*Corey Patterson Watch*

Paul Bako- you went 0/4 with an RBI. You Struck Out 3 times and Left 5 runners on base....

YOU ARE OFFICIALLY on "Corey Patterson Watch"

I agree that Patterson has been a disappointment offensively, but the fact that he is leading off is not the main reason why the Reds are losing.

The Reds are 15-12 in games in which Patterson starts. I am not saying that he is a reason why they are winning (he clearly is not helping much), but if his leading off is as damaging as you claim it is, the Reds would at least have a losing record in games that he started. At the very least, this shows that one player rarely has a major impact on a team's W-L record.

I agree that Bruce should be up in his place, and have said that since Spring Training, but Corey Patterson is not the reason why the Reds are below .500.

I'd pay all the expenses to send Dudepick, Corey Patterson, and Corey's mom to wherever the hell they tape the Maury Povich show.

If Dudepick ain't his father, then nobody is. Seriously - get that fool's DNA tested. There is no other explanation for DP's infatuation with him.

I was looking at the Games today and noticed that Gary MAtherws Jr. is hitting .219 right now, and that was after getting 2 hits so far today...

So the bright side is, we are not alone... And the Los Angeles of Anaheim Angels are paying him 10 Million a year!

3 Million still sucks though... But I felt better for looking that up...

Corey Patterson's career on-base % is .296 - which is 3 whole entire points above Bob Eucker.

(sorry for the dose of reality)

Hairston starting in center last night....

a sign that the club could be comfy with Janish starting at short AND a sign that Corey is expendable?

Worth noting that - while I didnt see it - they say Hairston made a great catch to rob the ugliest man in baseball (K Greene) of a homer.

Just makes things more and more interesting...

pti--I definitely agree with you on the Maury idea--some of Dusty's dna has to be part of Corey's makeup. Whether Corey goes or not--Jay Bruce must be brought up immediately if not sooner--though I guess Reds brass could wait until next weekend so I can watch Jay here in C-Bus when Louisville plays the Clips in Cooper Stadium...:)

They've waited this long, what makes you think they'll bring up Bruce anytime soon? Afterall, Patterson's average is still above the Mendoza line:rolleyes:

As for Corey Patterson; I have been saying that he's been pedaling down the interstate on his tricycle all season. His season has been a trainwreck.

I am just hoping with some small shroud of pride that the Reds have left they cut Patterson loose tomorrow and Bruce is up here tuesday. I can't believe that tuesday could really be the day.

Corey Patterson is hitting .150 since April 10th. Need to know any other reason why the REDS' record is so horrible?

He hasn't had a Walk in May in 52 at-bats.

I can't believe anybody ever had the nerve to try to justify that there was any hope at all that Corey Patterson would "all of a sudden have a miraculous turnaround" this year.

Some of us said at the beginning of the season that if Dusty insists on playing this guy, especially at leadoff, the first two months of the year, that the REDS' season would be over at the end of May. As a result of Dusty doing this, it doesn't look like the REDS will reach .500 before their 60th game.

So many people have said that there wasn't a choice. Wasn't a choice? There has been lot's of choices. For one, Junior doesn't need to play every day so that his defense (and this year his offense) doesn't kill the team.

Go away Corey Patterson. not from the leadoff spot, but from Cincinnati altogether.

Too bad Hairston didn't get hurt for a long time. He gets paid the same. If he played anywhere but shortstop, it would be OK, but he's not a shortstop.

I am rooting against CP so hard today. 0-5. Now Dusty/Walt have NO EXCUSE not to call Bruce up. NONE. Don't say there isn't a place to play him. CENTERFIELD IS WIDE OPEN. BRUCE CAN PLAY CENTERFIELD.

Nice 1-pitch at-bat there.

Clean out your locker, Patterson.

Baker gave you one last chance and you showed that you're even worse than when you were an Oriole.

One good thing about Patterson is now we got the top of our lineup coming up in a tied game without the automatic out man to start it behind the 8 ball.

Ryan Freel with the key hit and hitting .320. Why is Patterson ever seeing the light of day again?

Kingspoint
05-25-2008, 06:59 PM
Freel does in one at-bat what Patterson couldn't do in five.

Just start Freel for 3 or 4 games a week and Bruce for 3 or 4 games a week and Griffey for 3 or 4 games a week and Dunn for 6 games a week.

Kingspoint

Freel is batting .440 with RISP this season.

Last year was a fluke for Freel. What he did the previous three years and what he's doing this year is his norm.

I mean, the guy almost died from that concussion. It's not surprising he suffered for it.

"Hello, McDusty?! Is there anybody home inside that head of yours?" Play Freel and jettison CP on the first Greyhound Bus out of town.

0 for 8. Wow. I'm almost hoping this goes another 4 or 5 innings and Patterson ends up with the rare 0 for 10 game. Maybe that will finally send him down to the minors. Then again, if he gets the game winning hit, that buys him another month.

Just know that he's hitting about .130 since April 10th, the second week of the season. He hasn't walked in over 60 at-bats in May. A leadoff hitter who doesn't hit and doesn't walk.

Heck a batter who doesn't hit and doesn't walk....who cares where he bats. Get him outta there.

The Patterson thing is beyond the point now of explaining or reasoning or whatever Dusty wants to call it.
Jocketty or Cast or someone needs to step in on this.
People talk of Hamilton's rbi's but how many would he have for reds hitting third behind Patterson most of time and Janish some of time.

I would love for Dusty to just come out and try to justify this to the people.
Hopefully, Bruce will be a soon remedy to the problem.

Let's see, who else could we have lead off that could equal Patterson's robust .242 on base pct? How about Arroyo? His OBP is at .273 for the season and Bronson runs well.

Maybe Freel more often since he's at .370? Nah, too easy. Let's go with Patterson. He's still a few points ahead of Harang in OBP, so let's stick with him. Brilliant, Dusty, brilliant.

The thing with Freel is that he was at .370 in 2006, .370 in 2005, and .370 in 2004. Gee, what do you think the chances are that he finishes 2008 at .370? Pretty darn good if you ask me.
