Could he be a good-glove, no-stick SS?

I would not be shocked to see Dusty try it. Anyway to get Patt some at bats, Dusty will try it.

That's not that bad of an idea. Meanwhile, let's stick Javier Valentin in CF. With his stick and his scrappiness, they'll be no stopping the 1-2 punch of Patterson and Valentin both in the field and in the lineup.

Valentin at leadoff with Patterson batting behind him, then he keeps Griffey 3, BP 4, Dunn 5, Votto, EE, Bruce, Catcher, Pitcher

Isn't Patterson left handed? Kind of hard to be a lefty and play middle infield.

Baker will make him ambidextrous.

What about Cueto in centerfield when Patterson is at short? Have you heard about how fast Cueto is? That might give us the fastest top of the order in baseball. And Cueto can bunt!

Patterson throws right handed, bats left handed

Sadly Cueto and Patterson's swings are a mirror image of each other, both flailing way out of control and coming into little solid contact. At least Cueto would give us some upside at the plate.

Not to hijack the thread, but I would love to see Griffey try first base before he rides off into the sunset. Marty said in fooling around in Spring training that Griff has the quick and soft hands to make infield plays. He also has a good arm and a good size for a target.

Shortstop is about the last position you would want to try someone in the middle of the season. Besides, if he could do it then they would be in the same situation they are now. Janish has a good glove but has trouble at the plate. Keppinger will be back soon and he will play everyday at short.

Man its almost painful to think of Ken stretching for one of Ed Es throws:eek:

Did someone seriously suggest moving Corey Patterson, someone who in close to a decade in Pro ball has never played any position besides outfield, move to SS?

Seriously?

SS?

WOW.

I am just glad he struck out tonight in his big pinch hit AB to end the game

Get him out of here WALT

hopefully this was tongue in cheek by the OP, but if not, wow.

Typically a good SS can play anywhere on the field and is a pretty good athlete, however, a good athlete can't necessarily play SS. Patterson has a funky throwing motion as it is, it definitely doesn't bring the word "athlete" to mind when he does.

what we really need to do is get a petition up and get it to Bud so we can get a position added to the game, the EH position so we could have a DH for any position player, could you imagine the possibilities of having patterson play defense while having a hairston type player hit for him?!?!?

I say put him at SS, and hope there is really a SS curse on this team... That is one way to get him out of here...

BY THE WAY... This team was playing Great Baseball until Corey was recalled from the Minors...

I agree, Patterson is definitely pathetic.
