Good to see the guys make the pitcher earn his outs for once. 15 pitches in the first for Pettite. The Yankees middle relief is pretty soft, so I'd love to get Pettite out in the 6th at the latest.

It would be except for the regular RF. IMO, JR and David Ross are the two worst regular defenders in Baseball. Says a lot when the scatter armed 3B, frequently misplaying 1B, range challenged SS and oafish looking LF don't even make the top two on their own team.

A .446 OPS (coming into today) with a somewhat shaky glove (which is supposed to be his best part) along with Keppinger back now and Hairston not far away? He's proven he is not ready for major league baseball. He's up because of injuries, now we don't need him.

Well, I'd say Dusty cost the Reds at least the possibility of 1 run that inning. IF he called for the bunt.

On the surface, it looked like good strategy. Janish is not a hitter (why do we have so many of those?), so he thought he could beat one out and give it to Votto with the bases loaded. If it had worked, it would have been brilliant. Since it didn't, fire Dusty. The trouble is the hitters on this team in this case. So many easy outs.

Well, I'd say Dusty cost the Reds at least the possibility of 1 run that inning.

I guess we've established that Dusty gave Janish the bunt sign. Janish couldn't have decided to bunt when he saw ARod playing deep.

Or maybe Dusty blew it when he told Votto to strike out.

Dusty's probably also is at fault because Keppinger couldn't run to second on the bloop because of his bad knee. Dusty really has to watch himself causing those injuries.

But Dusty's biggest mistake was telling Cueto to give up a run with bad weather coming.

Of course....people are now going to bring out the Dusty costs us a run stuff....come on.....it's the lack of any situational hitting....more so than trying for a bunt basehit. I would rather see him work the count a little ....and then with 1 strike try it...

You could be right, very possible, but I hope not. Janish adds a lot to the team defensively and his bat isn't the worst I've seen. He can take a walk, like earlier this game, is patient up there.

He's a young guy with great defensive ability and I'd rather keep him to back up second, third and short.

Since Hairston can play the outfield, I'd rather see Patterson go down. With Hairston and Hopper available, the Reds are covered defensively out there. Patterson plays excellent defense but he can't hit and has no real future with the team. Janish does have a future as a backup.

Sure, and I wasn't pointing my finger at you, TRF. It just seems that everyone is determined to blame every footfall on Dusty when it's the players that are mainly at fault.

I do not think it was a bad decision to try and bunt....with AR that far back....just a bad pitch to bunt....high and a little outside.

It would have been better to at least take 1 strike...and with AP using breaking balls most of the time....he could have worked the count more.
