After seeing that garbage tonight he has got to get on the ball.Major changes coming soon as we near the trade deadline.Though looks like next year could be more of the same, one thing at a time I guess. We got a legit SP staff now it seems, give or take the last two spots. When was the last time the Reds had the best starter in baseball?
Now the bats need to fall in place, and it's gonna take major change,a lot of Redzoners are going to get there feelings hurt, however it's inevitable. The winds of change may be blowing in the Queen city soon.

I'm reluctantly to the point where I'm willing to accept major changes in the roster.

Doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results some say is the definition of insanity.

At this point I'm ready to try any path Walt J and company want to take the team.

Wherever, it's gotta be better than where we've been...

You aint kidding right there. Needs to sure up the catchers spot, outfield depending on if we keep Griff an Dunn. The day of the 3 run homer need to end in Cincy. We haven't won with it. This team needs to become predicated on pitching and defense. With Bruce, Phillips, Votto the offense i'll come.

The problem with this team is that they need to dip into free agency, but there isn't much quality out there. It will be tough to acquire some good outfielders for next year to beef up the offense.

I am really starting to feel that way, too. I do feel like the foundation of Votto, Bruce, EE, Volquez, Cueto, etc is strong. At least if Dunn and Griff both are elsewhere next year, that's an aweful lot of cash freed up for Walt to work with.

I disagree. Jr. and Dunn won't be difficult to replace. Defensive replacements alone would make up for at least half of their offensive production.

Ditto that.

And just because the list of potential free agents appears to be unflattering, I'd expect free agent signees with Cinci to get a nice little GABP boost to their offensive statistics.

I'm ready to set sail on the Dunn-Griffey era. I don't care who Jocketty plugs into the lineup, just as long as it's a winning product.

I want to make sure I'm following. A defensive upgrade in LF and RF would be worth sacrificing 50 HR, 120 RBIs and 120 Runs scored next year? Is that really an acceptable drop in production?

By saying that improved defense would make up for more than half of Dunn and Griffey's combined offense, that would mean the new corner outfielders would each hit (at most) 25 HR, 60 RBIs, and score 60 runs next year. I'm not sure if I'd call that an upgrade. Sure, the Dunn and Griffey are trending down this year but I still want more than 60 RBIs from the corner guys.

I agree with the thread title, this organization is in shambles.

Matt Anderson was once the #1 overall draft pick. He's on Charlotte's roster but hasn't pitched in over three weeks, so I'm thinking he's available. Sign him, and it's World Series here we come.

From ORG, here's what he has to work with in terms of free agents this offseason:

*****a quick note, this list isn't complete, as the player I want the reds to go after (milton bradley) is a free agent after this season, and he isn't listed, I can't post in ORG but they should probably know that the list is missing players.

Here's what I do, let griffey and dunn walk. I bring in Furcal and Bradley (hell, they'd cost less than griffey and dunn even if you way overpay to get them to come).

This is my lineup
Furcal SS
Hairston Cf
Bradley Lf
Votto 1st
Bruce Rf
Phillips 2nd
EE Third
Free agent catcher

Only thing about signing Milton Bradley is that Marty would have to cool any criticism of him,or risk having Bradley running up the stairs to the announcer's booth.:D

The FA catcher list is the definition of underwhelming.

I guess you focus on game-caller and steal-stopper and accept the weak bat.

I'd like the Reds to sign Jason Varitek... He would provide Vetran Leadership and be a Productive Back Stop for 2 years before Devin M is ready to compete... He is also a World Series Champion and would be great with the Younger pitchers...

I'd sign CC Sabathia and not worry about the offense.
