Mets DFA Andy Phillips already would we be interested?

Why the heck would we already want him back?

Cause he should not of been the one let go Patterson should of been.

You know...if only Dusty would use him right, Patterson could have some value. Late-inning pinch runner. Defensive replacement. 5th OF. He's not without talent. He's just not anything close to a full-time player and he is NOT a leadoff hitter.

That's pretty much what he's been used for lately, and he batted lead-off in a few weeks.

And that's why I do not want to DFA him, provided Dusty does not attempt to expand his role. It's too soon for me to completely trust him not to do that.

Tony Armas Jr. Called Up, Andy Phillips DFA'd

Immediately after Monday's 7-1 loss to the Cardinals, the Mets announced that Tony Armas Jr. will be promoted from Triple-A New Orleans and start Tuesday's game against Todd Wellemeyer (7-2).

The 30-year old righthander was having himself a good season for the Zephyrs, posting a 2.54 ERA while starting 17 games. In 102 innings pitched he struck out 88 batters and walked just 20.

To make room for him, Andy Phillips was designated for assignment.

There is a good chance that Armas could stick around if he performs well. With Moises Alou expected to be activated on Friday, the Mets can option Carlos Muniz back to New Orleans and move Armas into the bullpen as a long reliever.
