Sweep by the Reds. Hey, a boy can dream!I'm with you! A sweep of the Cubs would be a dream, and with a little luck, could put us back in the wildcard hunt.

Three more wins would get us to one game under .500. I'll take it.:)

The Cubs are 33-10 at home, and the Reds are 17-28 on the road.

As a Cubs fan I'd be greatly disapponted if the Cubs don't take two out of three, especially with Zambrano and Dempster slated.

I'll be at all three games at Wrigley and all three at Miller..... should be a great time. Hopefully I can see four or five reds W's. We can all dream as a previous poster said.

if sabathia does get traded 2 the brewers would the reds have 2 face him on their upcoming roadtrip

It's amazing what a sweep of the worst team in baseball can do for fans' attitudes.:)

I'll take Harang over Dempster in Game 1.
Eh, Cueto over Zambrano in Game 2.
BA spoils the sweep and the Reds lose to Lilly just because he's LH.

BA spoils the sweep and the Reds lose to Lilly just because he's LH.That's realistic, but this team has been better this year against lefties. Zambrano is amazing, but the Reds have always been good at getting to him. I'd be suprised if he has a great game in game two. Dempster has been great this year, but his era stands at 3.24. You have to think that is a fluke, given that his career era is 4.69.

These games should all be winnable for the Reds.

I would generally predict that the Cubs take 2 of 3. However, the Reds DO seem to get to Zambrano pretty well. The Reds could feasibly take 2 of 3.

The Reds just won 4 against Washington and most of those games were very close. Washington is a bad team. This should be a very good test of how good the Reds are right now.

You have been weighed, you have been measured, and you have been found wanting.

Cubs win 2 of 3.

I would be very happy with a 3-3 road trip

I would guess that the Reds go 2-4. The Brewers are one of the hottest teams in baseball and the Cubs feel them breathing down their backs.

Dusty will make some good decisions versus his old team, and the Reds will...

I predict that the Cubs will have a bunch of d-bag, bandwagon-jumping loser fans.

100% guaranteed winner.

I know this isn't about this thread, but does anyone know how much tickets will be for any of the games in the reds vs. cardinals series in august or tickets from scalpers? Just curious.

Put me down for a 2 -1 Reds outcome.

Lose too Dempster.
Beat the bullpen in a tight Zambrano pitched game.
Get too Lilly fast and never look back.

2-1 Cubs, sadly. But I'll be rooting like crazy for us all 3 nights either way.

Facing 3 Righties, we have a decent shot if we load up on lefties, even with Zambrano in there.

Dempster is living on fumes right now, we need to "un-right" his ship. He's been pitching as bad as Harang has the last 3 games, and is giving up a lot of hits. He should start regressing to his mean sometime right - RIGHT?!?! Hopefully we start this series right.

If they bat Dunn 2nd and load up early with lefties, we might get a shot at putting some runs on the board early against Zambrano, otherwise we have to hope for a meltdown to beat him - aka a lot of walks and some unlucky hits to get him going against himself.
This also depends on which Cueto shows up - the one of the last 4 games, 3 of which were Quality Starts, the one which wasn't was 5 innings of 4 hit, 1 run ball with 7K's in Yankee Stadium - or the young struggling rookie we've seen pretty much all season prior?

Arroyo versus Lilly - advantage Cubs, big time. Arroyo SUCKS in Day games, but for some ungodly reason NOBODY, the least of which Dusty, has figured that out yet despite MOUNDS of evidence to support it. Lilly has looked pretty solid lately, though we have roughed him up in the past.

Again, it all comes down to our lefties, IMO, and getting on the board early.

It will take a lot to win the series, and a sweep would take a HUGE effort on all parts, which WOULD give some indication that we ARE actually starting to put it all together.

PEACE

Dempster has had one clunker, and two very good starts in his past 3 games.

7/2 6IP 2 ER 2 BB 7 K

6/27 2.1 IP 8 ER 3 BB 1 K

6/22 8 IP 1 ER 1 BB 4 K

Both the 6/22 and 6/27 games were against the White Sox. Its obvious they made some adjustments the second time around.

Dempster has also been lights out at Wrigley this year. 9-0 with a 2.71 ERA.

Way to rain on a guy's Parade. :(

However, when you give up 10 hits and a walk and only give up one run, you are using some SERIOUS smoke and mirrors. 22 hits, 7 walks over his last 3 games, that's not good no matter the results.

Let's hope we win this "pitching duel" tonight.

Lets hope Marty gets out of Wrigley alive, evidently he has to have security escort him into the stadium.

I can see why Reds' fans would be so down on the Reds' chances heading into this three-game series with the Cubs.Considering that the two teams have met six times already and the Cubs have won all of them except for three. The Reds might as well not even show up. I wonder if the Reds will even score against the Cubbie dynamo. Put me down for the Reds winning just two out of the three.

I won't be surprised if we get swept or win 1 our of 3. Not to be a downer but we are gaining a bit of momentum and Harang has gotten smacked around in these situations this year. Arroyo in a day game in Wrigley scares the crap out of me. And I don't see Cueto out dueling Zambrano, but probably pitching a solid game.

At least those who said 1 out of 3 still got a chance.
