If we can win one of the next two games before the allstar break and give us a 3-3 road trip I will be pleased. We have a great chance tonight with Edinson pitching, not so good a chance tomorrow with Bailey facing Sabathia.

The teams we're facing after the break are less than stellar, a ten game homestand against the likes of The Mets, Padres and Rockies. This is a great opportunity to move above 500 and tell us If this team really has fire and is worthy enough to compete.

If we come out of the homestand 7-3 we'll be at 500 and very close to talking more about the wild card race. The homestand after the break will really tell us what this team is made of. Are they mice or men?

I hate to be the bucket of cold water but, this team is not a WC contender. I do think we have the potential to finish above .500 provided we don't have a major fire sale, although it needs to be acknowledged that finishing above .500 really doesn't matter all that much.

Still, all things considered, I am enjoying this season and last night's win was very satisfying.

ummmm were 4 games below .500 at the break. 7 games out of the WC.

This team has the talent now to make a run. Its their heart and WANT that i question.

I dont doubt they could make a serious run in the second half.

Make that 6.

StL blows a 10-6 lead in the 9th, then lose 12-11 in the 10th.

Nice job, Pitt.

Do you realize if Cincy wins tomorrow and St. Louis loses Reds would only be 5 out of the Wild Card. If you can get that down to 4 by July 31, Reds might be buyers.

That sounds so crazy, but you're right. The best possible thing would be to move Arroyo and Griffey and replace them with someone else in a trade. Addition by subtraction and regular ole addition all rolled into one.

Before the win tonight, Basball Prospectus listed our odds at making the playoffs at 1.31842%. I'm not going to get my hopes way up, but I might if that number keeps moving up.

The percentage went up to 2.13987% today. I'd be really interested to see it if we win the game today.
