Haven't we had enough of this type of Coffey. We've all tasted it at first it was good, then after awhile it was terrible. We need to spit this guy out and bring up some of the new stuff like Roenicke, or Herrera.

Very disappointing that Burton's headed to the DL after what we had been hearing.. Coffey really is a wild card.. we know he has good stuff we've seen it.. maybe he can get good again I'm just not one to completely right off someone who I have seen pitch so well in the past and not seen pitch in a while

That being said I would have gone with Herrera. But i guess Coffey fits the Burton mold/role better.. hopefully he'll be back when hes eligible to come off.. retroactive to july 11 I believe... can someone tell me more about roenicke's stuff?

Similar to belisle in having good stuff just not being able to Pitch.

It's probably Coffey's last chance to prove himself with the REDS.

I'm OK for giving him one more shot.

The team doesn't care about winning anyway, or they wouldn't have Junior in the #3 hole. So, why not give Coffey one more chance and see if he can pitch in the Majors? They have absolutely nothing to lose by doing so.

Burton is due off the DL on the 25th. And considering he was warming up last night, I would guess that he should be able to be activated as soon as possible. This means that whoever gets called up is up for a week. They have already called up Herrera like that twice, so the next time he comes up they probably want it for good, and I doubt they want to call Roenicke up for such a short stint too. Coffey is an easy guy to send up and down.

Let's just hope their aren't too many close games this week.

Agreed. Coffey has had chance after chance, when do you give someone else a shot at this? I hope he comes up and figures it all out, but his track record isn't very good.

I thought Coffey got shelled in his last Louisville outing?

He did. He also gave up no runs in his previous 4 outings, but as mentioned above, I don't think he was brought up specifically because of how he's doing.

It must be do or die for him this time around. Funny how just 3 years ago many looked at him as the next closer when he had some success in the set up role. What happened???

Unfortunately for Coffey, even if he sprints all the way in from Louisville to the mound for his first appearance, he'll still be fat and sucky.

I would like Coffey to at least get an appearance to see his stuff before Burton comes back.. not sure if its going to happen though.
