Bailey isn't fooling anybody right now....mostly breaking balls and changeups so far in the first inning.

Eh, I wouldn't say he isn't fooling anyone. He got 3 groundballs by the first three guys he saw, 2 just happened to go for hits. Gonzalez laced one, but Kouz didn't lay into his sac fly.

Great work versus Giles on that AB by Homer, despite getting squeezed out of a Strike 3 earlier in the count. Then retiring Gonzalez on 3 pitches... he's doing a good job of spotting pitches, working both sides of the plate, changing speeds, and has some pretty good movement. The kid is pitching a fine game.

Kc61
07-21-2008, 08:26 PM
Bailey fans Gonzalez. That's just about the best pitching from Bailey I've seen. Two very tough lefty batters with the bases loaded.

Progress.

Great pitch by Homer to get Gonzalez. He's not making mistakes over the plate and his fastball actually has some movement -- good to see.

Joseph

The kids starting to get it. I know a lot of us, myself included, wanted him to be the man immediately, but he's figuring it out. There will be more bumps, but he's got the makings of a big leaguer inside him.

Why was he running to home anyways.....he's not Mickey Rivers with speed but his brain sure reminds me of him...or Freel.

any chance that Dusty loses his mind tomorrow and stacks some of the lefties against Peavy just to make it mildly tough for him to get through an inning?

Haven't been able to see the game, but looking at the box score, I am quite mpressed wth Bailey's last two starts. Look like his control is starting to take form. For those who are watching, how does he look? Were the 8 hits solid shots?

Is Edwin going to hit 40 HR this season?

Tough first inning... but battled back and had a nice pitched game... good curve, nice change, fastball not at 95 and 96 but had good movment in the low 90's... I'll take it everytime...

Way to spend $50 million Wayne.

Graves wasn't even this bad.

Well, maybe he was, but bringing in Cordero with a one run lead, heck even a three-run lead is simply ludicrous. He lives out of the strike zone and patient hitters will wait him out. And he gets bombed. What a waste of money.

Sometimes it feels as if people would rather see the double switch come back and haunt Dusty than have it work out.

Bruce came in on that ball for his first step or two, then ran back as it went over his head. To me, this is an offshoot of switching everyone around in a defensive replacement. Bruce isn't used to seeing the ball as much in right, and simply misjudged how hard Kouz hit the ball.
