Dunn again hits a bomb that is gone in GABP but is only a warning track flyout in this park.

Dusty never learns. There is no justification for Corey Patterson-Baker to hit leadoff.

BTW, I like the Astros' announcers. They aren't smart enough to count higher than the number of stars on the Astros unis, but they're like two drunk guys who are just out to have a good time. Invoking the name of Kal Daniels pretty much at random was pretty funny.

The time to trade Arroyo was after the 2006 season. Unfortunately, at that point the Reds were so pitching-starved that they saw Arroyo as a long-term solution as a member of the team rather than as a commodity who should have been moved for a haul of prospects in order to enable a very necessary talent churn.

You were right. One run in 8 innings off Moehler. Wow.

OBM, I can see when this team goes into one of these spells from a mile away. I'm not sure what's wrong, but when it goes bad, everyone goes bad. We taken Jay Bruce from a patient hitter to a first pitch hitter. Jeff Keppinger no longer is the guy "that always hits." Brandon Phillips hacks at everything that comes up there and makes tons of outs. Even Votto and Edwin just swing away without regard for making the best of their at-bats. Only Dunn and Griffey are hitting well now and one of them didn't play tonight.

On the pitching front, you just knew that Bronson would have one of those games--he was due. Without a healthy Harang, we have three kids, the inconsistent Arroyo, and Josh Fogg as our starters. Volquez has not been himself and Cueto is learning on the job. It's a recipe for disaster. No hitting and no starting pitching = losses. Expect another tomorrow and by the time this road trip is over, the Reds will be back in last place. They'll fight back in August to probably fourth, but they'll have to fight both Houston and Pittsburgh for that, and both of these teams make our offense look like the 1962 Mets. It ain't pretty.

I honestly can't think of anyone other than Dusty Baker who'd pencil Corey Patterson into the leadoff slot. It was beyond retarded to start the season with him there and it's even worse to continue to run Patterson out there after the kind of abject failure we've seen from him over and over again.

Like Baker, Patterson is a total waste of money.

On the bright side, he hadn't started any games except the one against the Rockies and tonight in a month. Still...

Interestingly, the top of the order tonight went 2-12. The middle of the order was 3-11, and the bottom of the order was 1-10. It's going to be a long slump I think.
