So far, it's not looking like the DL stint has done much for Harang.

It's promply 1-0 Astros.

I was at the game last night. I was shocked at the size of Miguel Tejada. For a short-stop the dude is huge.

The pitch MT hit was a good one...Tejada was just better.

Reds pitchers throw a ton of pitches in the first inning.

And it doesn't help that the Reds offense takes as few pitches as is possible from the opposing pitcher.

Did I just hear Welch say the Reds considered giving Harang another rehab start in Louisville instead of calling him up for todays game?

I mean, if you have your doubts, why wouldn't you take it easy on the lynchpin of your pithcing staff and a guy who's arm is worth millions?

Nah...must.win.now.

That's one of the more craptastic lineups of the year....

At least Valentin isn't playing, then it would easily be the most craptastic lineup of the year.

Michael Borne? Really?

Dude makes Patterson look like Babe Ruth and we just gave up a 3 run homer.

Harang still a mess. 5-0 Astronomicals and still batting.

That great pitching staff just went to crap in a hurry. What in the world...

Wow...awesome fake bunt there.

Serriously, why rush Harrang. Dude is a super tallented arm....why push it if he isn't ready?

I think Harang is a gamer and he would give the same effort whether it is in Cincy or Billings.

True.

Then again, he'd be facing batters that wouldn't require as much effort to retire. Give him more time to shake off the rust, get his timing back, etc without having to give max effort.

I can agree with that. Whether or not there is a material difference would be hard to quantify.

Harang's slider is gone. And he's rolling up the slow curve on a platter. Fastball has topped out at 92.

Sure glad they decided against more rehab....

Another rehab start would not have done much harm to Louisville's nine-game lead in the standings.

With Harang pitching today, Volquez got two extra days rest. Keep the veterans in the rotation now, cut back on the work for Cueto and Volquez. That's the right way to go.

Harang has to pitch someplace. This is like another spring training for him, let hime pitch some innings with the Reds. I expect that after two or three starts he'll be better. Don't know if he'll be the Harang of old, hopefully he'll be fully back next year.

I'm a Keppinger fan, but he covers very little ground at SS. That ball Quintero hit up the middle is almost a routine out, and Kepp didn't touch it.

Former Red, and Hamilton native, Ricky Stone has a brain tumor. He is scheduled to have surgery soon...apparantely he was at the ballgame the other day, and while leaving, had a seizure...and that was the culprit.

Just heard on the broadcast.

Thoughts and prayers of course...

Nice inning by Affeldt. He finishes it by getting Lance Berkman swinging.

That said, we should have dealt the guy at the deadline.

I can't even watch these games anymore. I flip them on day after day and the Reds are down by multiple runs.

Best of luck to Ricky Stone.

Is it really wise to show Reds fans where firearms can be obtained right now?

Nice to see some life. He looked good blocking the plate earlier. Not the torreador act that we saw from Ross so often.

I am so happy to see Ryan up here finally. Shame to see Ross go, but one of the 3 had to go. Hopefully we'll see another of the 2 hit the streets.

If you learn nothing else from today, take this as a reminder why guys putting up numbers in AAA are basically telling you nothing, especially if they are old. Harang was mowing 'em down in his rehab stint at L'ville, then gets lit up by the Astros.

Anything short of an offseason roster overhaul, with at least one multiplayer, blockbuster mouth dropping type deal will be a disappointment. Phillips, EE, Harang, Arroyo, Cordero...

Joba and Liriano had great "rules" put in place when they originally got the call. Sometimes it is just the luck of the draw.
