With a nasty slider and changeup, why in the hell is Bako constantly calling for two strike fastballs? Geez. Dude calls a terrible game. Freddy Sanchez will chase anything, so why call for a two strike fastball? I can't wait until Bako is no longer a Red.

Me neither... But Keppinger has been struggling badly... I would try to package Edwin with Bailey and see what that could fetch... However, if the response isn't good you can keep Edwin and slot him in the 6 or 7 spot... He will produce about .255-.265 25 HR 75 RBI..

Using Cueto to squeeze wouldn't mean he'd be back out to pitch. He's proven to be a very adept bunter. And the result had a better chance of working than what we ended up with...rundown and Patterson out...Phillips to second. Well done. I preferred the squeeze route.

Is it just me or has Dusty gone a whole week without pulling a double switch? He's been so double-switch happy all season, it's pretty bad that I've actually noticed it NOT happening.

Most of his double switches were designed to get CPat in the game.

No need anymore...he's a starter.

I absolutely love Rosales' hustle. You see him sprint back to the batters box after that foul ball? :O)

He's 3-for-5 with two doubles and a triple tonight.

Dickerson needs to play every day the rest of this season, because the early indicators are that the Reds may have found their center fielder for next season.

Dickerson is very, very impressive so far... And hitting isn't even his strong suit, defense is... If he can hit .270 with gap power like this, I say don't even worry about a centerfielder next season... However, that will be hard to predict... Nice squeeze Kepp! 3-1 reds

It sure is a good thing we've been struggling to find a centerfielder AND a leadoff man all season long.

BTW that Dickerson triple would have been a homerun in every ballpark but this one. It had plenty of distance on it but the 21 foot high wall kept it in the ballpark.

_Sir_Charles_
08-14-2008, 09:54 PM
LOL. Brantley just had a classic line. If you're pitching and you see that they're pulling a suicide squeeze...you adjust your pitch and you hit the batter. Just hit 'em.

Classic.

That was an enjoyable win. Very enjoyable, in fact. Everyone contributed in some way but Bruce, Phillips, and Encarnacion, and that's strange because they are our 3-4-5 hitters (of course Brandon's catch to end the game was pretty good). Regardless, the pitching was wonderful and Dickerson was amazing.

Before we annoit Dickerson as our CF next year, let's let him come down to earth a little bit. It might be safe to look for a LF, but we'll know more by the end of the season, especialy if Dusty will play him every day. I hope it works out.

Winning a series on the road against the Pirates usually doesn't sound like something to celebrate, but at this point in time, it's pretty good.

All Dickerson needs to to do is hit .250-.260 and he can be the Reds everday CF because of his speed, walks, and developing power. Good start for the young man, he's got a chance to win himself a starting job for next year.

I can't believe how much praise the Reds announcers continue to give Keppinger.

Grande would praise Castro so you'd think he was a gold glover/silver slugger.

I thought you meant in the batting order. :D

Well, we could do worse. Owings has been to the plate 52 time and has scored 7 runs, has 15 hits with an average of .288, an OBP of .351, and an OPS of .735. Makes Corey Patterson and even Jay Bruce hang their collective heads in shame. Over a season, using that fancy mathematics stuff you could predict a pretty good season of hitting.

Start every fifth day and play 3 or 4 days in between. Double threat.
