What happened to having too many outs at the bottom of the order? Patterson, Bako, and Fogg. I'm guessing Walt stopped listening to that crap?

Truth is, none of these three players should be with the club in any way shape or form. Two are Dusty proteges and the other the work of one Wayne Krivsky, who actually thought Fogg would be a decent fifth starter (even though he had three fifth starters on the team already). Three automatic outs on a team that is offensively challenged anyway. Against Oswalt.

For those who like pitching and defense, this game will the nightmare that can only happen when your offense puts you out of games like this before they begin. I can't wait.

With Oswalt, you have to be....he doesn't walk guys, and if u don't swing, you'll be at his mercy in a hurry, because he's a strike machine. Getting hits or fouls is the only way to really run up his pitch count

I could buy that if it was just against Oswalt. But we've seen this all season, and Dunn/Griffey's absence has only exacerbated the problem. This team is hacktastic, and IMO it's hurting the offense in a big way.

Anyone know why they call them the Crawford boxes?

From wikipedia...

The boxes are named for their being parallel to Crawford Street in Downtown Houston.

The Crawford Boxes are located in left field in Minute Maid Park with one of the shortest porches in baseball. The home-plate-to-wall measurement of the boxes is only 315 feet (96 meters). The 19-foot wall that maintains the front of the elevated boxes houses the hand-operated scoreboard for other games occurring the same day.

Due to their popularity, Crawford Box seats are among the most expensive of outfield seats in the major leagues (an individual ticket is $32).

Landry's Restaurants, Inc. have bought out the naming rights to the Crawford Boxes, lending the commercial moniker "Landry's Crawford Boxes" during radio and television broadcasts. In addition, promoters from restaurants owned by Landry's (such as Rainforest Cafe and Saltgrass Steakhouse) visit on random days and throw gifts such as T-shirts, keychains, frisbees, and stuffed animals to the fans in the boxes. Traditionally, any fan that catches a home run ball that lands in the Crawford Boxes wins a gift certificate to a Landry's Restaurant.

Jason Bourne flies out to center. Score would be 1-1 on any field other than one resembling something out of Williamsport.

But hey, on the bright side Patterson's due up to start the 5th. He grounds to SS.

Bako also grounds out to short. 2 out.

1982?

Close.

The 1982 team scored 545 runs - avg. - .3.36 rpg
The 2008 team scored 556 runs - avg. - 4.21 rpg (in 132 games)

The 1982 team had 1375 hits - avg - 8.48 hpg
The 2008 team has 1087 hits - avg - 8.23 hpg

One has to consider that a lot of the 2008 statistics included Adam Dunn and Ken Griffey, Jr. It is notable that the 1982 team hit .251 while this year's team is in at .244.

Regardless, both are pitiful and what was a great pitching performance (despite the incompetence of Majewski) where the staff only allowed 4 runs, the horrible offensive team that this team is was defeated after the first home run.
