Today's loss to the Brewers

Anyone notice Arroyo went 7 innings and didn't give up an earned run? He lowered his e.r.a. to 4.64 (should be lower if not for 3 horrible outings where Dusty let him get shelled). He should have won his 15th game today. He would have beaten Sabathia, had Weathers not given up the game.

As for Weathers, he has been pretty good all season. One bad outing at a bad time.

It's fun taking 2 from the Cubs and almost 3 from the Brew-Crew.

my problem is that if you look at his game logs.. when he is brought in in close games (within 2 runs).. his era is over 5.4.... a veteran setup man shouldn't have that and 6 losses.... he does well in blowouts.. but close games are like the plague..

telling me that we wouldn't have gotten more out of watching roenicke or someone young.. instead of what we KNOW we have at this point is stupid.. STUPID..

I've not been a fan of Weathers in the past, but I think he is far better than people give him credit for. Sure, he blew it yesterday, but who in the bullpen hasn't?

Cordero went through a bad stretch. Mike Lincoln was terrible early on in the season and then went a stretch of 2 months where he was probably our best reliever. Burton came in and coughed one up the other night. Bray typically sucks with men on base and has a high WHIP. Affeldt can be dominating and then a hitting tee. They are all hot and cold.

My problem, if I were manager, is I seem to be able to tell who has it and who doesn't when they pitch to their first batter. I'd be yanking guys way too much and probably experimenting way too much. But I can usualy tell.

A was hoping Affeldt was coming in,as he looked liked he was ready when they showed him standing there in the pen.Why not bring a lefty in the game after a right hander the whole game?I guess it's set in stone with Dusty that Weathers must be the set up guy.

we dont use ours specialists at all.. lincoln and affeldt both have been labeled our specialists... but we never use them for such circumstances..

He's had quite an up-and-down year, that's for sure. In fact, this is pretty much what we saw from him last year as well. Over the course of 30+ starts, he'll put up some good numbers, but don't hold your breath relying on his consistency.


And I gotta disagree about Dusty letting him get shelled. If you're referencing the 10-run outing in Toronto, that is SQUARELY on Bronson's shoulders. He is a major league baseball player, and a very highly-paid one at that. I don't care if he gave up 47 runs, there is *no* excuse for not being able to finish a single inning.
