BTW, Skip freaking Schumaker is OPSing .879 against RHP this season. Just more evidence of the ridiculous lightning in a bottle so many Cards have caught this year.

Still 1-0 Cards with Bruce, Kepp, and Patterson due up.

Of course, nobody likes strikeouts, but I'm rather encouraged that Bruce seems to have stopped goin' up there a-hackin', and seems to be taking the borderline pitches that he probably couldn't do much with anyway... not to mention the pitches 10 inches off the plate most couldn't hit with an oar.

I like Hairston too, but keep in mind he's never had a year where he's come close to this much success. His OPS+ of 121 this year is head and shoulders above his second best season of 105 (in 2003 in Baltimore). I'm not so sure we can expect to see the same production he's provided this season again next season - even if he is healthy.

Having said all that, I certainly wouldn't be opposed to bringing him back. I just hope IF things go sour with him, Dusty doesn't go all Corey Patterson with him as well.
